Not fair all these teams get to just buy these players from other teams to win championships. Feels good atleast knowing 2019 we were the best team of all time and last LEGIT team to win it all the right way. Cfb has never been the same so its nice knowing we ended the real era of cfb as the best of all time!!

LSU hanging their hat on 2019 and not buying players. Cool story Tigers go watch the 2019 highlights. No one gives a shite about this hot take.

Is your head always in the sand or do you prefer to keep it that way with certain subjects that you prefer to not know the answer to?

This is a fair take even though Buckeyes want to be all “stop living in the past”.

My wife and I talked about this yesterday. We were die hard CFB fans from HS until about 3-4 years ago, and now i can’t be bothered to muster up a single frick to give. Do I want my team to win? Sure. But the highs aren’t near as high as they used to be, nor are the lows as low when they win or lose.

What we loved about CFB was the connection between the players and the fans by way of the love of the school and associated sports teams. You never got this in the pros because it is a job and the players play where they’re signed vs where they want to be (for the most part). That is all but gone. OSU won with a QB who played at KSU and a RB who played at Ole Miss…just last year. They don’t GAF about OSU.

I know this applies to every team, so I’m not taking anything away from OSU for winning by the rules in place. I’m just explaining why I, my wife, many of my friends, and tons of others are quickly losing interest as the CFB pagentry erodes with the Wild West transfer portal. You can pay players without this nonsense. You can’t even keep up with what players are on what teams anymore.

The rich getting richer is not something that will generate long-term interest. Sorry.

This is the way now. Either get to spending or get to losing.

LSU Bama UGA Auburn etc have been buying players for decades. Now that NIL has started the big donors in the B1G are paying up.

It wasn’t legit before based on the SEC having advantages and it won’t be fair now. Sec fans are upset it is to their detriment now

The best player on LSUs 2019 team was at OSU for 3 years and graduated.

Like Joseph Burrow - who didn’t even attend on-campus classes in 2018 and 2019

But member when big ten schools were clutching pearls and taking the academic high ground ? And don’t pretend tOSU buying players just started with NIL, you’ve been in the mud with the dirtiest of SEC programs for a while now. Not hating because that’s the game

Imagine starting this thread and knowing you needed a transfer QB (likely paid) to win it all.

Fair is where the cotton candy is.

I agree that the current configuration of the game is craptastic but everyone had the same opportunities to buy players and win the craptastic sweepstakes.

In their defense, most of the money OSU spent went to guys who were already on the team to keep them there.

And are we going to pretend that players weren't getting paid/bought in the SEC before NIL?

So we go back to 2019 rules. Deal?

Did Judkins leave OleMiss because he lost a running back battle and wanted playing time?

It’s not Ohio State’s fault that they managed the portal and NIL so well and everyone else is playing catch up.

In 2019 LSU was illegally paying players all over the field.

Since NIL has started more people have been vocal about what the SEC was doing for decades.

It has never been a fair playing field in CFB. OSU has surely bent rules in the past but nowhere near as blatantly as the money in envelope stuff.

Now with NIL you are seeing the rich alumni bases do their part. OSU had 4 transfers who really impacted this team in Howard Judkins Downs and Seth. How may starters did LSU have from transfers? Was it more than 5?

Will Howard spent his Freshman through Senior year at K State and was a two year starter. Legit an entire college career there. Burrow never started a single game in his two years at OSU and was a two year starter at LSU. Not even remotely the same.

Nothing like it is currently. Hundred dollar handshakes and some Dodge Chargers are peanuts compared to what’s going on now. If anything, keeping it under the table regulated it.
