People have a WILD misconception about Ruth's time as a pitcher

Does he drink too much?

Eat too much

Spend an inordinate amount of time with the ladies?

How many times a season did he play with a hangover?

HRs are one thing, but all the above are just as important in determining the greatness of a ball player

Cant compare guys from such different generations. Ohtani is currently on GOAT trajectory for this generation

Shohei Ohtani- 0.0 innings pitched this season

It’s wild an injured pitcher can still hit 40+ HRs

Let him sit out the length of time that Ted Williams & Joe Dimaggio did for their WWII service time & then come back & have the seasons they both had on their returns.

When context only flows in one direction, as it always does with you, it isn’t context it’s bias.

If you’re being honest to yourself. There is absolutely none. He’s the best ever. Kinda sad to say. But it’s true.

Strange fact, no 40/40 player is in the hall of fame

Would be interesting if the baseball hall of fame wasn’t a joke and kept Barry out.

Ohtani has the pitching edge but Barry is the best ball to bat player to ever do it.

Disagree about bonds… Ted Williams was a much better overall hitter than Bonds.

Did you just ask if a guy with a .933 OPS is the best of all time

Doing 50/50 as a DH and doing it with a full pitching workload are two different things. If he's smart, he stays at DH. His body, no matter how well he takes care of himself, will not stand up to playing both ways. His elbow has already tapped out once. That's a pipe dream. Chicks dig the long ball.

Tony Gwynn was a better hitter than Barry IMO.
