I think he will desperately try to remain relevant. I think he wanted badly to be an Ali type transcending sports and championing socio-political causes. But he does not have 1/10th the personality and think on your feet smarts of Ali and his attempts seem forced and poorly thought out, and sometimes embarrassing.
The period where he went around holding books so as to be photographed with them is just one example of that. The Graffiti incident another.
The media has done their best to play into this narrative he wants to portray, but it still doesn't resonate with anyone because his personality is what it is.
And from what I heard on ESPN radio yesterday, even they are turning on him over his Memphis comments.

If you time traveled LeBron back to the 80’s or 90’s his stats would be worse. If you time traveled Jordan, Bird, or Magic to 2020’s their stats would improve.

Geeks who never played and don’t know basketball overrate him. Super talented, def a HOF player but not coachable, not a good teammate and very weak mentally. If you put him into a group of the greatest of greats and you’re drafting or picking a team he’s not going #1 or 2 or 3. You’re just not going to win as much as some of the others with a person like him. You can worship the stats, for many years they’ve been a mirage, but if you want to be the best you have to win and there are other players who’d be more conducive to that than he would.

Jordan? Probably not. He would have to COMPLETEY change his game.
Bird coming to the modern NBA wouldn't. Lebron's style would be even more dominant in the 80s/90s.
Magic is more complicated, because he's more of an outlier. He would still be really good in the modern NBA but I just don't know exactly what he'd be.

Now it can be debated just how legendary is he exactly since he could also easily be called LeSweep for as many times as he has been swept in the playoffs. Add gentlemen’s sweeps to it and legendary bron starts to look like average Andy.
I also don’t think he’s doing himself any favors on his mission to play to 50 years old solely to accumulate empty vacuous counting stats with no shot to win anything at all, especially because everyone laughs at his bubble ring and it’s more of a joke than something to be proud of.

To be legendary you have to make legendary plays and moments.
It isn’t simply a resume you build up and check the boxes. Like I said above he is a legend but a very suspect one. Lebrons chase down block off the glass in that series is one of the legendary type moments im speaking of.
