re: Is Lane Kiffin's coaching career too crazy to be made into a believable movie?

He’s just a recycled SEC coach at this point. His daughters are hot I’ll give him that.

But where he may have had an advantage early as a big personality that can recruit, entire pay for play has killed the ability of top salesman to prove they are top salesman. Now everyone is selling the same product (a salary).

He would be one of the most hated movie characters of all time. I’d rather see that movie after things inevitably go south, hopefully several years and a championship or two down the road.

He won at a clip that hasn’t been seen in Oxford since JFK. Had FAU win 10+ games twice. What a silly post.

Hugh Freeze had Ole Miss #1 in the nation and Auburn just fired him.

LSU just did what Florida pulled when they hired Dan Mullen. Hiring a retread SEC coach. At least Mullen was off the Urban Meyer tree and had a connection to UF and even that failed

Saw something earlier that pointed out Lane and his good buddy O have both been head coaches at USC, Ole Miss, and LSU now

Humans can be tied together in ways no one could ever understand. Hope the championship arc is the same. The ending not so much but I'd take that too if a title is the price.

This isn’t true at all, and it got 28 upvotes. Why is this board full of so many retards?

Wish there was audio of his speech at the Marriot in Birmingham the night before the 09 Bama game that incited a riot. O was apparently destroying overhead projectors and Monte Kiffin throwing chairs.

none of those 3 got anywhere near the hype Kiffin has gotten this cycle.

It's insane that he's resetting the market 1 year after a huge failure in 2024 And I'm one of the bigger historic LK fans of the LSU fans on this site. I was all in on him last time instead of BK

Is anyone in the media calling this a desperation hire? It clearly seems that way to me.

I’ve been thinking about that and I guess it’s why I’m kind of blown away that the LSU fanbase has a sense of entitlement that this is a home run guarantee. It may be, but many coaching cycles have their Jimbo or Tom Herman, too

He’s going to win at LSU. I have little doubt. Kelly was a bad hire, Kiffin is as good a hire as they could have made.

The real question is how much damage will be left in his wake when he tears out of town. Guy has a long history of philandering and has no loyalties but to himself.

If Juice Kiffin isn't actually his dog, it just adds to the Kiffin lore.

The only reason it might not work is you only get three years and change now. If he misses on a QB or has holes in one or two units, that could doom him. That said, you have to think he will post at least one playoff appearance in three years.

That's dumb

It was just a bad year for coaching options and he was clearly #1. There were also several major programs looking for coaches, which drove the price up.

I know this is going to sound like sour grapes but I think it takes a special type of jerk to get fired like Kelly did at lsu with the buyout he had.

You have to have no one on your side.

He seemingly did extremely little to integrate in the community etc I think a couple things like the “family” thing and the recruit dancing blew up in his face and he said screw it im not gonna do this “relatable” stuff any more

On top of that he did worse with massive NIL infusion leaving little hope for improvement.

Kiffin by simply getting out on the balcony and fist pumping at the fans who gathered at night and pulling out his assistants has done as much in the first hour in Baton Rouge than Kelly did his entire tenure to interact with the “every man” lsu fan

Things like that buy you time particularly when you have 50 million left on your contract

And when you compare it to people like Mike fricking Elko somehow getting 11mm for another 6 years idk how you can look at this negatively

This is what coaches cost now and Lane has shown to at least be worth the gamble when you factor in no one does what he just did at Ole freaking Miss

Coldest I’ve ever been was El Paso in January in single degree weather with 25 MPH wind. Knowing Lane though he probably had one too many at the Kentucky Club and spent the night with a chica o dos.
