He’s got a shot if he gets to 500 bombs. Compared to another DH in Harold Baines, his stats are much better albeit Harold is a very debatable entrance anyway.

I've never thought of him as a great player except for last year. He's only had 3 seasons of 3 or more WAR. But 500 home runs may get him there. But he's 33. And some players quickly deteriorate around that age.

He's this generation's version of Dave Kingman.

He has played his best baseball the last 2 plus years. Before that he was an extreme 3-outcome guy that hit around .200 most of the time.....even Dave Kingman had a better BA in comparison.
Banning the shift helped him and he just started hitting for average better in general - and I know BA is not valued anymore but if he would put a resume before the Hall voters with a .210 career average that would have stood out like a sore thumb. He hit .197 in 160 games in 2023.
He seems to be one of those somewhat rare folks that peak in their mid-30's. If he can keep up the pace of what he is doing now for another say 4 years, he'll have a shot.

Zips had him projected at 41HR this year and he just hit MLB leading 30th. He is on pace to break the Phillies single season record of 58 by Howard.
