At first glance it seems ridiculous, but his hitting numbers and WAR are hard to ignore. He’s only 33, so he has a few years left to compile stats.

Pretty unlikely unless he keeps producing into his late 30s

As of now, him & Ryan Howard are very comparable

Cumulative stats, I agree. But Schwarber has been far more productive in his late 20’s and early 30’s, whereas Howard was his best earlier in his career.

He will but not on the first ballot. The BBWAA dorks love him. He sufficiently kissed their collective asses.

Time will tell. He’d have to stay pretty productive til about 40 if 600 is the goal. He’ll be at about 400 at the end of this season. He’d need 200 from 34-39 to get to 600. That’s a tall task. I don’t necessarily think he needs 600, but 600 is a complete lock

Why 600 for him? He’s a 2016 Cub, that should help him

500 should be enough for him IMO

No positional value

His career WAR will be somewhere between 30-35, well below HOF standards

did this matter for all the other aging sluggers? I do average, (MAYBE OPS), HR, and RBIs… or W-L, ERA, strikeouts, and saves. Not whatever the frick WAR is

Maybe I’m stuck in the 90s for thinking 500 HRs = the HOF

500 should be enough for anyone. HOF voting is out of control but 500 HRs should do it

We have dumbed down sports so bad that he probably will get into the HOF.

Staring pitchers these days can’t even pitch 6 innings a game.

At this point depends on if he gets to 500 HRs, could still get in without it but I doubt it unless he has more playoff moments that make him iconic

Career .232 hitter that almost certainly ends up lower, OPS in good-not-great territory (.853), and DH?

Blow the Hall up if he even sniffs it

WAR? What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.

Look at all the other 500 HR hitters that are in the HOF. None of them would have as few hits or a thousand more strikeouts than hits. Schwarber is a great home run hitter. He's not a Hall of famer.

No way. He batted under .200 for a full season in 2023...
