They havent had a rodeo inside the Astrodome in like 20 years.

Can't do anything about the Astrodome but they bulldozed Astroworld in like 24 hours. BRING BACK ASTROWORLD
Put Astroworld inside the Astrodome
ETA: It is absurd, though, that there isn't a single major park between San Antonio/Dallas and Atlanta but a successful new park just isn't happening today

It’s sad what the Astrodome has come to. There’s literally nothing in it. There hasn’t been an event there in over 20 years ever since NRG got built. Before they had the mini tour a few years back Hurricane Katrina was the last time anybody has been inside it publicly.
They had an idea of it being an indoor park of some sort and it was close to happening until they realized that they have to put in an all new AC system around the stadium and the cost of that basically scrapped the whole idea.

Costs a lot to refurbish.
Costs a lot to tear down and haul off.
Costs a lot to turn it into a hotel or destination. In addition there’s a hard sell to get people to that shite part of the city.

They could retrofit it to be the new Sphere but for Houston.
Would make for an unreal concert venue.

It would be pretty awesome if they turned it into a hotel. Of course I do not know enough about Houston to know if it is in a desirable location other than Texans game weekends. It would also probably f**k up the national historical status.

They need to do the same as old Rangers stadium in Dallas. Fix it up, put a field for high school teams to play. Rodeo used to be there, put it back. If they fix it, they MUST but the old home run lights back up.

I think it would be cool if they stripped it down to the framing and put a park with mixed use such as restaurants, massive beer garden, event space underneath.
It sucks going to games out there because there is nowhere to hang out, drink and eat.

That's not too far off from a [link=(recent proposal)]https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/design-team-imagines-second-act-houston-s-18454406.php[/link].

6 or 7 years ago it was estimated that if the done and all the infrastructure just disappeared… it would cost around $70M just to fill the hole. Probably in excess of $100m now.
All kinds of dangers and environmental issues such as asbestos insulation. Expensive proposition no matter what.
