Knuckleheads actually believe NOLA will get an NHL expansion franchise. One world describes that city.

The only thing I want at baseball games is hot dogs and cold beer. Maybe some peanuts.

Again, affordability is only one part of the equation. The crap product is the problem in most sports/situations. I could technically afford to go to a lot more games than I do but it's not worth it and the money is better spent elsewhere.

I went to a game at Mercedes Benz a couple of weeks ago, sterile af, lame atmosphere, the woman in front of me spent at least 30 minutes standing up posing in front of the field like a hoe while her friend took her picture for social media or whatever.

I don't mind dropping a couple of hundred, or more, if I feel like I'm watching top athletes competing like their livelihood depends on it surrounded by a bunch of ravenous fans letting loose and creating a great environment. That's fun to me. Watching some hoe pose for social media and half the crowd be more concerned about hanging out in the luxury suites and being seen while the players on the field are nothing but uber rich mercenaries who barely pretend to care most of the time is not fun to me.

I don't attend many pro sports but college football games have gotten absolutely insane.

They have priced out the blue collar, working class fans who support the program through thick and thin.

They are often the loudest and most passionate fans too.

Now the stadium is full of wealthy boomers and the country club type fans who sit there and golf clap occasionally and are mostly there to be seen and post on social media.

Agree 100%, we have Sugar Land Space Cowboys about 20 minutes from us and 30 minutes from The Astros, love The Astros but I hate shelling out $200 everytime we go.

I don't want fancy, simple concessions and a draft beer or 2 and I'm set. My little brother was in San Diego recently and had a sushi made for him in the park, that's not my kinda thing.

Guess I'm old.

can confirm the bulk of what we have done over the last few years and have planned for the future is aimed at carving out more premium spaces even if it means fewer total fans in attendance.

Can’t wait to see the next wave of NBA arenas that look like the COVID bubble… a lot smaller but exclusively premium seating and suites. Theyll look like the Star Wars Imperial Senate.

That’s when youll get a shorter season, because those people aren’t into games that don’t feel like “events”. Having fewer raises their value.

I said this in a thread a few days ago, and it’s worth repeating. Minor league baseball is about the last frontier of affordable family fun when it comes to pro sports.

I make way more money than I ever used to make. I haven’t been to any of the big 4 league and CFB games (other than Air Force Academy which is dirt cheap) since 2018. Nothing beats watching on the big screen at home with my own drinks and food which I can make as top notch as I want. Until they can top that at half the price I pay now, they can frick off. Nothing beats watching a game at my home (and I bet your home too!).

We were having that conversation with my son the other day. He has never seen anything but the absurd prices at stadiums and is old enough now to go to games with his friends or girlfriend without us.

When my wife and I were broke and in college, we would go early to Turner Field and stand in line for a couple of hours to buy $1 tickets to a little section in the corner of the right field upper deck. They had about 100 seats in that section and you couldn’t buy them ahead of time. You had to stand in line, buy the ticket, and go straight into the stadium. We also each took a little lunchbox sized cooler. One with hot dogs and one with drinks.

Probably sounds crazy to a lot of you, but it’s a good memory for us and we almost always bring that up now when we are at a game we paid hundreds to attend.

And they have the audacity to ask for tips now too. And I didn’t even leave one!

My son and I take a 2 game trip to Atlanta each year. Went to the concessions during our 2022 trip. The guy at the register told me “just press no tip…we don’t get that money. It goes straight to our vendors.” I haven’t left one at a stadium since.

Loved being able to do that. Old Fulton County Stadium used to let you do that too.

MLB isn’t the sport you need to complain about. I understand NFL/NBA games being expensive. There are 160 games to choose for MLB
