I was talking about '03. We indeed won the BCS title after that year.

The main reason we were upset is that we earned our title on the field while you guys earned yours in the voting booth. You are delusional if you don't think media bias helped USC win the AP title that year.

Correct me if I am wrong wasn't USC #1 in the final regular season AP and Coaches poll? Why would you expect the AP voters to drop USC down after winning unless they were forced to like the "coaches" were?

Well when the media took half of our national championship and gave it to you, that was bound to piss some of us off. But honestly I've stopped caring because it's been vacated anyway and we're the ones with the crystal ball.

Specifically, what NC was taken from LSU? And it has not been vacated.

This pissing match about who won what BACK in 03 is very stale. LOOK LSU won the BCS title and the AP voted USC as THEIR #1. What does this all mean???

NOT A frickING THING. I still feel that LSU would have beaten USC.

Tyler Wilson? Arkansas had an excellent offense last year and Bama shut them down.

Arkansas O was ranked 27 or so last year not exactly elite and it was the only top 50 O they faced. If you think USC or Oregon are just racking up stats vs crappy D's, well the same can be said for Bama's D.

Interesting how eyeball tests are ok when they support SEC fan views, but not when they don't.

Yeah. Those battle lines have been pretty well drawn from each fanbase.

SC posters were just clarifying his statements about "vacating" and "on the field" and "taking away half of LSU's title."

No one was trying to rehash the useless '03 debate.

Yes, you were. That's all you try to do in as many threads as possible. You're more obsessed with 03 than any other person on the board. You bring up 03 over and over and then when someone takes the bait, you get to yell about LSU fans are obsessed with 03.

Anyway, I'm not sold on USC this year due to their line, and I'm a huge believer in line play. Those 03-06 USC teams had great skill players, but people forget how loaded they were up front as well. Line play matters.

But I also see why they are a popular choice: name brand program, good narrative, and a senior QB (reporters LOVE senior QB's). I'm surprised the pick is THIS popular, particularly with Oregon in the same conference, but I'm not surprised it's a popular pick.

I don't think they're the USC of old beating people 56-0 and such, but they are damn good and have a legit shot of going undefeated.

The media knew we belonged in the BCSNCG instead of a team that not only lost, but got destroyed in its own conference championship game. So did the rest of America. LSU had a great team that year, and we would have given your Tigers a much greater test than the Big 12 "runner-up" OU team that got thumped by Kansas State a few weeks before. I feel that we earned that AP title by winning that Rose Bowl game, and I wasn't alone. The bottom line is you also earned your BCS Championship, but you didn't play the most worthy opponent to win it.

I'd just like to add that someone posted an argument as to how USC's defense is better than LSU's this year and there hasn't been an uproar about it....

Congratulations on shutting down Hawaii's running game. Way to get a lot of sacks on Hawaii...

USC = Bama 2005, except Bama had a better Oline to start the season.

Eventually injuries will catch up to you and you'll lose some tight ballgames in the 4th quarter.

Fatal flaw that will get them blown off the field vs. Oregon, IMO.

Well, here's a few things I think we did better than LSU last Saturday:
1. Defended against the run. Hawai'i is a pass first team though, so not sure that matters much.
LSU did pretty good in this category too, just not as good as SC.(USC#15, LSU#28 vs the run)

2. Passed the ball very effectively. First play from scrimmage was a long TD from Barkley to Marquise Lee. There were a few more of those TD's, to various receivers. SC is 5th in passing offense, and 14th in passing efficiency. LSU is unranked in the former category, and 49th in the latter.

3. Sack the other guy's QB. We got 5 on it. I don't think y'all got any.

4. One notable category LSU performed well in was defend the pass well. UNT was held to 8 completions on 23 attempts for 143 yds. and one INT. UH passed for 24 completions on 39 attempts, for a total of 208 yds,1 TD and 2 INT's.
LSU is ranked #22 in pass defense while USC is not ranked.

5. LSU forced 2 turnovers, USC forced 4. LSU also
lost a fumble and gave up an INT, while USC fumbled once, leaving the Tigers even and USC +3 on turnover margin.

Keeping in mind there are lies, damned lies and statistics, if you had to ask yourself what people were thinking when they ranked USC ahead of LSU this week, this might help.

I would say him comparing 5 points and saying it's the reason USC is ranked ahead of LSU (and 4 are defensive points) would back up my point.

This is certainly enough evidence of how delusional USC fans are becoming. In what planet is your defense on the same level as LSU or Bama?

Bama never really was in the discussion. I think LSU played an inferior opponent, and didn't show how good their defense can be. I think USC played an inferior opponent also, but I would argue that Hawaii is a notch or two better than North Texas.

The OP was wondering why LSU wasn't ranked ahead of USC in the minds of pollsters, and I proferred statistics as probable cause, along with "the eye-ball test". USC looked better against UH than LSU looked against UNT.

No it does not back up your point. He was not arguing that USC has a better D. He argued statistically they did better in week one. And the eyeball test in week one.

I agree with this, But I think USC has little to improve on. I think that was your best effort we will see all season. LSU has a ton of room for mprovement. If LSU would have played USC sat, USC wins goin away. 7-8 weeks from now I would say the opposite.
