I hate to start yet another USC bashing thread but I would really like to know why people think they are so good. I'm sorry but you don't go from being blown out by Arizona State one year to being No. 1 in the country the next. I don't see how anybody could rank them above LSU or Alabama. I get media bias and all, but still, it really doesn't compute to me.

Not a fan of SC but they certainly weren't the same team towards the end of the year. Time will tell if they lose a game they shouldn't. Right now I've got no problem with them being a top 5 team. I don't care who's #1 right now. It's early and it'll sort itself out.

There offense will more than make up for their lack of depth on defense

They are legit

I think they'll be hoisting the crystal ball in Miami.

Nobody in the country can match-up with Marquis Lee. Dude is amazing.

Oh, and then you have Woods on the other side.

This. For some reason, some people think defense is more important than offense.

I love how people all over the country think like this. And then the Offensive super powers get crushed by SEC teams in BCS bowls and nobody understands why

Maybe on ps3, but this isn't a video game.. They won't even make it.

No shite. I used to believe this argument too, but I keep seeing offenses like Oregon getting donkey stomped by SEC defenses makes me a little concerned that these offensive "juggernauts" are a by product of a conference that simply can't or won't defend them, not that they are "indefensible"

Depth alone shouldn't have them ahead of Bama or LSU.

They are 2 injuries away on the DLine from being blown out by whoever comes out the SEC.

Are you comparing USC's offense to Oregon?

Yes this is correct, because Oregon offense >> USC offense. What is your point here?

They'll score enough to beat most teams, but I don't think they can outscore Oregon this year

Why do you think that? Their O is better than last year. They have a running game now (with Silas Reed) along with Woods/Lee combo. And Barkley is more refined and experienced than last year.

LSU lost 5 games the year before they won the NC in '03. And it took one of the .kst miraculous finishes in the history of sports to avoid Lodi g to Kentucky. SC may or may not be legit, but what they did in one game last year doesn't preclude them from being an NC contender this year. That's just fricking stupid.
