LSU lost 5 games the year before they won the NC in '03. And it took one of the .kst miraculous finishes in the history of sports to avoid Lodi g to Kentucky. SC may or may not be legit, but what they did in one game last year doesn't preclude them from being an NC contender this year. That's just fricking stupid.

I'd normally agree, but if you go back and watch that game or the Stanford game, it really is a good indicator of how badly USC's defense can be exposed. The LSU example isn't a good comparison because those were very different teams, USC has basically the same team as last year, with a worse O line.

USC is legit. Will they get past Oregon twice and win the rest of their games...I don't think so.

They can definitely get to the Rose Bowl. Only have to beat Oregon once for that. NC? Ya, it'll be hard to get past Oregon twice.

Yes this is correct, because Oregon offense >> USC offense. What is your point here?

His point was Oregon's O is tailor-made to be stopped by a Top SEC team with a dominant D line to blow running plays up at the LOS.

USC is a pro-style attack with the two best WRs in the game and a pretty good pocket passer...when people talk about Bama's weakness, it's their secondary (if Bama has a weakness.)

SEC teams can't load up on the line because USC's offense isn't one-dimensional...they'll make you play the deep ball and sprinkle in runs, draws, whatever.

I think USC has issues...but an SEC team dominating USC's offense because they dominate Oregon...isn't one of them.

I don't see USC being able to handle a dominant D-line. Maybe last year with Matt Kalil up front.

I really don't think a dominate D-line is a killer like it is against Oregon's spread...when faced with a quick read, timing offense and an experienced pro-style QB.

Good offenses can attack it and throw it the D off-balance.

Hell, West Virginia threw for 463 yards against LSU last year.

You don't have very many legit passing games in the SEC - last year and now. Oregon's O is the SEC's wet dream...run, run, read, run.

USC brings the whole pro arsenal to move your D around the field and cover in the secondary.

That said, USC's running game is mediocre and their D-line is okay.

USC can put up points just fine against the SEC D's unlike Oregon. It will be the other side of the ball where USC is in trouble trying to stop ball hog/control rushing attacks.

No shite. I used to believe this argument too, but I keep seeing offenses like Oregon getting donkey stomped by SEC defenses

Yes they lost to the very best of the SEC but why does the rest of the conference get to take credit for that? It's always the SEC vs OSU, or USC or Oregon, its ridiculous. If you lose to one team in the SEC that means you lost to them all. Just because Oregon loses to LSU doesn't mean they would "donkey stomped" by the rest of the conference. Your so called SEC juggernauts also lose BCS games (arky vs OSU, Bama vs Utah) yet those games mean absolutely nothing because the top team wins it all so everyone else gets to claim the championship you guys have gotten carried away with all this SEC bullshite

Yep.

Oregon stomped UT 48-13 just like Bama stomped UT 41-10.

But UT gets credit for LSU's win over Oregon a year later.

I find it hilarious that you say Oregon's O is one dimensional. Not true at all. They can pass just as well as they run. Darron Thomas threw for a ton yards every game he played(including second most yards ever thrown in a MNC). Mariota will be much better than Thomas at throwing.

Has USC beaten anyone worth a shite besides that close win against Oregon last year? No. So save me that bullshite about them having the two best wide receivers in the country. What defensive powerhouse have they worked?

They are one or two injuries at the skill positions or along the lines to be another above average PAC team.

Their depth, or lack thereof, could expose them. If the core group stays healthy they can beat any team in the country. LSU and Bama both have young secondaries and would have major problems with their air attack.

I'm sorry but you don't go from being blown out by Arizona State one year to being No. 1 in the country the next.

I guess it shouldn't any more, but this type of comment still blows me away. Do I live in some parallel universe were teams can change/improve from year to year so the results of 1 game played almost a year ago don't matter?

Also ASU is a BCS team, they finished 6-6, but were 6-2 at one point. I also love how people act like a teams final record is what they were all year, like they were literally the same team each week and those are literally the same teams from a year ago. This mentality from LSU fans is particularly mind blowing to me. Its like the concept that a team can have some key freshman that get better as the year progresses is alien to many on here. they weren't the same team in Nov last year that they were in Sept, let alone now.

They have elite talent and the top QB in CFB, plus some sick WRs. All that said, I still like Oregon to win the Pac 12

Oregon getting donkey stomped by SEC defenses

heavy sigh, they lost to Auburn on a last second FG. In case no one noticed, Auburns offense was not the same vs Oregon as it was all season. They scored more on both LSU and Bama that year. I think the long layoff before bowls may hurt offenses, especially those non traditional spread/read offenses. Florida held OU to 14 after they were racking up 60, but Florida was a good 3 TD's below their offensive avg that year as well. I think USC would have beaten either of those teams that year.
