It was..."would LSU have gotten the Coaches Poll votes w/o being obligated to vote LSU?"

They would not have. More times than not, 1 and 2 dont play each orher in a bowl- pre BCS. In the history of the coaches poll, when #1 wins its bowl, it stays #1. Also it's not like USC squeezed by and LSU won in a blowout.

Not sure what point you're trying to prove here...UCLA isn't a big college football program, at least not on the level of the LSU's and USC's and Bama's of the world. If you are going to try and argue that USC gets media love solely based on their achievements and not based on their location in the country's 2nd biggest media market (biggest for college sports) then that's just absurd.

USC gets more love from the media than other programs with an equal amount of historical success.

YES USC DID. And NO LSU did NOT blowout OU. But they held a record setting offense that avgd like 600 YPG to 152. NOW STFU. USC had ZERO to compare with playing MICH in the Rose Bowl.

If the media likes USC why didn't they give them the benefit of the doubt in 07 or 08?

LSU 21-14

USC 28-14 (this is squeaking by?)

#4 team in the nation is who they played. But I understand--LSU was the only one who played a really good team (that was just blown out 35-7 in its last game)

If there's on team that I don't want to see LSU play, that's USC.... because of their WR's.

This. For some reason, some people think defense is more important than offense.

Uh, that's because defense wins championships. Just think SEC. They have won a few.

You're kidding right? You seriously think either of those teams deserved an NC shot? And the media controls the AP, not the BCS, so it's a moot point anyway.

You're kidding, right?

This whole thread you keep revealing you don't keep up much with college football. Everything seems like news to you.

Ok, since you are so much more knowledgeable than me, please explain to me how USC in 08, who lost Oregon State and played a much weaker schedule than Florida and Oklahoma, deserved to be in the national title game over either of those teams.

There will not be a team that comes within 2 TDs of the Trojans this year. It is destiny for Lane the Legend to win the first of many, many NC's this year. He will Coach USC for the next four decades and they will rename the campus after him.

How many teams not named Alabama and Notre Dame have an equal amount of historical success as USC?

Ohio State
Michigan
Oklahoma

If we're talking about the last decade or so, throw LSU and Florida in there as well.

None of the above teams get as much extra love in the polls as USC. Their location in LA is obviously a factor.

Perhaps it's because USC has soundly beaten each of the three teams you've mentioned, all of them within the last decade.
