Not a mistake, had he remained healthy....

At 30 (and after several injuries already) he put up a .271/.387/.556 season with 40 home runs in 145 games. Injuries had already begun to take a toll on his body at that point.

The next time he played over 140 games he was 37 and he hit .277/.372/.496 with 30 home runs in 144 games.

i really don't go by injuries when i rank the all time best.

for example, i will say till the day i die that bo jackson was the best running back ever.

now, back to jr....i'd rank him in the top ten easily.

Henderson and Schmidt are a joke being compared to Griffey.

I still take Griffey over Arod

Toss Ups between Bonds and Pujols

Note: Remember this is about the end of career stats

ruth is all time #1 no doubt.

from what i remember, during the years griffey was in seattle, he was the better baseball player than barry bonds. had his career continued on the same trajectory(minus injuries and rapid decline as soon as he went to cincinatti) i believe Griffey would be the 2nd best player of all time.

Where he stands now its really tough to say, I suppose somewhere in the top 20. Griffey is baseball's grant hill, although griffey>>>grant hill.

Pretty swings don't mean shite. The goal of swinging is to make contact. Bonds was much better than Griffey when it came to making contact. Bonds struck out much less frequently than Griffey, and he drew walks much more frequently. Those qualities are important for producing runs which is the ultimate goal of all batters.

He drew more walks because pitchers and managers got so scared of his steroid swing that they just walked him instead of showing some nads and pitching to him.

You know dick about baseball.

Bonds, Henderson, A-rod, Schmidt and Pujols are better players than Griffey was or could of been without injuries.

Yeah, the Reds were a playoff team (one game playoff albeit) in '99 and had some good pieces in place. Dunn and Kearns were about to come up and man the corners. It was a good time for him to go there, but he just broke down.

Even if you take away the 688 intentional walks Bonds still drew over 500 more walks than Griffey, and Bonds was hit by pitch more often than Griffey. Those represented opportunities to score runs, and not surprisingly, Bonds scored significantly more runs than Griffey. How do you account for the fewer strikeouts by Bonds? When he was pitched to, Bonds was better at making contact. And Bonds grounded into fewer double plays than Griffey as well. In short, Griffey was better than Bonds at killing rallies.

There's no doubt that Bonds was better than Griffey. Not everyone perceived it because one was a media darling who was well marketed and the other was a pariah.

I still can't get over Bonds' .609 OBP in 2004. That's sick, steroids and all. Dude got on base two/three times every game.

Dunn was a terrible influence on Griffey. His fatness and love of beer rubbed off on Jr.

This is an honest question. How many bags would he steal in today's game?

I'm guessing he's talking about Rickey Henderson.
