Growing up in the 90s, there were 2 people we all wanted to be in peewee.

Chipper Jones & Ken Griffey Jr.

Atlanta is about as far away as you can get from Seattle as far as MLB goes.

Think about it

If Albert Belle doesn't get hurt where does he rank all time? His offensive numbers were on a par with Griffey's on a 162 game average basis, but neither one was quite as good as Barry Bonds.

Bonds got his Gold gloves in left, a less demanding position. He had all the skills to play center, but never did. His arm was also a bit suspect.

I cannot help but post in these threads.
Anyone arguing that Bonds was as good as Jr defensively is just wrong...CF vs LF, and we can all remember multiple highlight reel catches from Jr. Bonds? Not so much.
Offensively, they were close before Bonds' clear cheating started, but I'd still take Griffey. Even if I wasn't a huge Jr fan, I still wouldn't give Bonds the benefit of the doubt---he's an admitted cheater, so until he can prove when he started, ALL of his stats are tainted in my book.

He's gotta rank way up there. Such a sweet lefty swing. I'll never forget the day I saw it in person at Wrigley, home run to right center. Blazing speed, played the game the right way and was the face of the most diabolical Super Nintendo tape ever. Ken Griffey Jr

Are you trying to say Griffey had a better career than Ripken and Brett?

Griffey back in the 90s early 00 games was "Bo Jackson" style unfair. But Chipper, Andrew Jones, AG, Brian Jordan and Maddox were unstoppable

Pretty swings don't mean shite. The goal of swinging is to make contact. Bonds was much better than Griffey when it came to making contact. Bonds struck out much less frequently than Griffey, and he drew walks much more frequently. Those qualities are important for producing runs which is the ultimate goal of all batters.

Oh shite. Not very old school. Wonder how the elders of the board will take it.
