Strong was this mediocre during his tenure as well however he got charged with a MCWBB (mediocre coach while being black) and dismissed. Herman will get a longer leash but he’s just as bad.

We tried to warn y’all, it takes a VERY specific type of coach/personality to manage the fan and media circus surrounding the Texas football and Herman ain’t it. He’s a very weird guy with unique coaching/motivational strategies and doesn’t stroke the big donors/media ego.
Mack Brown was absolutely perfect for that job and, if not for a few bad coordinator hires and Bob Stoops, would probably have won 3+ national titles at Texas.

I would definitely take Herman over Jimbo. Herman at least has a creative offense, Jimbo is getting behind the times and he’s a drunk. So glad we didn’t land him.

Hey RTM4, I'm an LSU fan living outside of Austin, so I'm fairly familiar with the goings on of Texas football. Looks like a lot of the Horn fanbase wants Herman out and for Texas to pursue Urban Meyer.
I know you guys extended Herman by 2 years after last season, so his contract now runs through 2023. If my math is right about how his salary escalates by $250k a year, the balance of his remaining contract is $25.5M. Seems to me it's most likely he's given more time but is told he needs to make staff changes. It would be really interesting right now had you guys not extended him.
