Herman is “done” at Texas IMO...not like officially done of course but this is the very beginning of the end IMO.... the wheels are already in motion and no slowing the train down now as all the negativity will begin to feed itself with fans and recruiting and fuel more negativity.
He will probably be given 2020 unless Urban gives them an ultimatum this year to complete his revenge against Herman, but the entire coaching staff will be gutted, they’ll lose some more recruits, and 2020 will be a 5-7 or 6-6 disaster and he’ll be fired before the end of the 2020 season.
People can take arrogance from winners (Saban, Meyer, Stoops, etc).... Arrogance + losing and people will turn on you with the swiftness, which is what we’re seeing happen at Texas the last 5 weeks. And Herman has a unique kind of arrogance that literally makes people want to punch him in the face.
It takes a special type of arrogance and character flaw for a football coach to apply for Mensa.
“I will never say that we were outcoached in a game” -Tom Herman after Iowa State loss.
A good football coach would never make that statement, because he’ll never become a good football coach as long as he sincerely believes that, which TH unfortunately does.
Their next coach will likely have immediate success, though, because Herman has recruited pretty well.

He’s a very weird guy with unique coaching/motivational strategies and doesn’t stroke the big donors/media ego.
I saw him at several UH booster events (w/ my dad), and he always treated fans/boosters with seriousness and respect. He's just lacks the folksiness or natural warmth of a Mack Brown, but so do most people. The weirdness that comes across is kind of like a nerd trying to seem cool. I'm not sure how effective that personality is longterm at a major program where you constantly have to work people.

That gif says so much about Texas. It's more than just a funny bitching kid. Confirms that pussy liberal Austin culture where it would be acceptable for your son to act in such a despicable manner

Nah, I like Herman. Scrap Tim Beck if you must. I'll give Todd Orlando a pass, he's been good until this year.
Down years happen. We have Sam for another year. Turn the page, try to finish 9-4 after the bowl game, move on.

they'd be smart to drive to Waco for their next coach...

I like Sam a lot as a person and as an athlete. But let’s be honest ... he’s had his own struggles at times this year. Maybe it’s the system, maybe it’s teams have figured Texas And Herman’s O out, maybe combination of both, but Sam is merely a good, tough QB... doesn’t appear to me to have the ability to be a great QB.
Maybe he’ll prove me wrong next year, but I think Sam has been a PART (albeit small) of the problem for Texas this year. It’s ironic because Texas would definitely have a worse record without Sam, but it’s also true that Texas would probably have a better record with a better passer at QB.

Their ego won't let that happen. And stay the hell away from our coach!

he strikes me as a guy that is deep down really insecure and he tries to cover it up with false pride and over confidence in his intelligence

Surly Horn (old shaggy bevo) posters can kiss up to Herman's arse all they want but that guy won't make his contract.
I hope their posters show up over here before the game next season. As much trash as they talk on their own site they turn into b*tch*s if you even so much as offer a dissenting viewpoint.
There was some in-depth analysis thread of the game this season followed by “they are terrible, we should win convincingly” from all their posters. I went on there and didnt even talk trash, just pointed out some inaccuracies and mentioned how our worst defense in a while (2008) was similar to their squad this season. Loads of talented but very inexperienced players after all the guys that graduated or left early for the draft. And our passing game would keep it close. Got negged like crazy.
Couple days after the game I said something to the effect of “why don’t you guys post the full transcript of Orgeron’s post game where he said the AC had nothing to do with the cramping, but rather the defenses inability to stop a drive and get off the field”. Banned within 5 minutes.
Their fans deserve every minute of this impending 7-5 season.

Herman will get a chance to gut the staff and prove himself next year.
But, if you could fire him today, who would you replace him with?
All of the delusional Texas fans on SurlyHorns are convinced that Urban Meyer is dying to coach there.

They thought the same thing about Saban.
Its like Miami, every year you hear they are back.

He is, but it has more to do with getting revenge on Herman than it does with Texas. One final retirement payday is just the icing on the cake.

Is that really a good thing? Ehlinger is 23rd in QB rating, behind a lot of pretty average QBs, including 3-star recruit Jack Coan

Did you hear him when he was calling into morning sports talk radio shows to bitch out the hosts for saying something critical of him? He doesn't have thick enough skin to be a coach at a big time program. Once I heard that, I immediately didn't want him at A&M.
