Texas’ close loss to Ohio State (AT OSU) kept them out of the playoff this year. If they played UTSA week one instead they’re in the playoff

No it didn't. Their loss to a bad Florida team did them in, along with a 4Q bludgeoning by Georgia, did the trick. And near misses against UK and MSU didn't help the optics.

Losing by just one score on the road against a top 5 team in a game where you had two chances to punch it in from the 5 yard line or closer didn't hurt them nearly as much as the factors above. It blows me away so many people think it does.
The Bengals would incur a $56 million dead money cap hit if they traded him during the offseason.

What is his buyout?

He'd be owed 90% of his remaining contract value. After this season, that's about $60M.

re: How many of you support TAF?

Donate there and Bayou Traditions.

I just emailed with someone at TAF to get clarity on both the Team TAF and Football Excellence Funds as well as their association with Bayou Traditions.

He said TAF is no longer affiliated with Bayou Traditions and that BT still exists but isn't taking in funds.

As for the Team TAF and Football Excellence Funds, both basically go to support scholarships and various support expenses serving student athletes. Team TAF serves all student athletes across sports and does help somewhat with revenue sharing.
Their loss to Ohio State isn't hurting Texas. Their loss to Florida is.

And the near misses against both Kentucky and Miss. Stste aren't helping, either.

Their strength of schedule is a laughable #104. Even Van Buren would look like an all-star with that schedule. LSU's this year was #9 most difficult.

So, he's playing UNT-level competition with...UNT talent himself. It's not like he's been QB'ing Ohio State.
He still has shown consistent ability to complete passes in tight coverage windows and throws sn accurate deep ball. He has elite arm talent and processing ability.
Ask again once portal season us over.
He's not waiting to decide. He's waiting to announce.

re: North Texas HC

Eric Morris. I think he's someone to keep an eye on for down the road, but he needs to build a longer record of success first. North Texas is having a really good season so far at 7-1, but they were 5-7 and 6-7 under Morris the previous two years.

Maybe it's a sign he can build a program, but he needs to show he can sustain this year's success over several seasons. I am intrigued by him and his reputation for developing QBs and putting together prolific offenses.

ETA: just looked it up and if Lanning leaves Oregon he has to pay them $20 million

His overall buyout to leave for another job also includes the cash value of his Nike stock, which is estimated to be in the tens of millions. I've seen a couple of figures online that project his overall buyout to be close to or about $60 million total.
It's not zone read, it's RPOs. Don't need a running QB to run RPOs.
The Braves made $59 million in mixed-use revenue in 2023, mostly from The Battery. In 2024, that number increased to $67 million. By the end of this year, it's projected to be close to or about $80 million.

This is all considered non-baseball revenue, so it's not subject to revenue sharing. The Braves keep all of that and can plow it back into baseball ops. Other MLB teams are understandably envious of this and are studying how to try to duplicate the Braves-Battety model, at least to some extent.

I'm just hoping our mercenaries prove to be better than everyone else's mercenaries.
Per On3, Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas are in the mix here. Texas has already landed 4 portal DTs, but it's not stopping them from pursuing Watson. Would love for LSU to get in the running here.

How many more can we take and who else do we expect to lose?

It was determined that with next season, SEC teams can increase their scholarship numbers to 15 from 13, but it hasn't been decided whether they will. So, if it stays at 13, LSU has two more spots to fill.

Update: sorry didn't know he was already 19. But isn't it 3 yrs removed from high school?

It's either 3 years removed from high school or age 21. He turns 21 in May 2026.

He recruited this team.
Also need to mention Malachi Zeigler and Peyton Houston for 2027 instate QBs on LSU's radar.
