This is when you lie and say you're bringing it to your son at home.
For extra effect you can say he's in an iron lung or a bubble boy and can't attend games.

I agree. A few things:
-kids asking every player after a game for a bat or ball is annoying. If you KNOW a player that broke a bat, ask him. But these kids just want everything. And if you have season tickets to a team, you’ll see the same kids getting shite every game. So no...I don’t buy the ‘these kids will cherish it.’
-I never got baseballs handed to me as a kid. So if a ball lands in my lap, I’ll do with it as I please.
-nowadays, most of these kids don’t even watch the game. They run to the playground, or the basketball court, or the rock wall.

What I hate is that the kids feel entitled to everything and also that the parents have the gall to ask. Sometimes, it feels good to give though..I caught a ball tossed into the stands at a Marlins game a while back and gave it to the kid sitting with his dad in front of me...he was all happy and the dad actually thanked me and said it was the kid’s birthday.

If I ever catch a foul ball at an mlb game and some kid comes asking for it I’m telling him to get lost. I totally agree

it will be cherished by him for decades
99.9% of the kids will lose the baseball that week.
The other 0.1% will use it in BP or throw with it.

I still have a home run ball I caught off the bat of Brandon Larson. Man I thought he was going to the hall of fame one day.

Some of us go to games our whole lives and then we finally get a foul ball at a game.
I'm not giving it to some kid when I've been wanting one my whole life. That kid will have plenty of chances.
I'll cherish it more than the kid will, sorry.

Couldn't agree more. So damn tired of all these stupid kids getting worked up about a baseball. Stop being childish dammit. It's just a ball.

Good Lord,it's a freakin baseball.I've probably caught
5 foul balls going to games over the course of 30 years
and the only one I kept I gave to my nephew.

Why?If it was HR ball I could see your point but a freakin foul ball?

The worse part is parents, a kid who is just sitting there not begging I have no problem handing the ball to. But some little punk who comes up with "give me the ball" because his/her parents told them to do it, nope. I'll get up from my seat with the ball and hand it to an unsuspecting kid who is just sitting enjoying the game.
As soon as someone catches a foul ball, especially an adult look at how many kids run up to them asking for the ball and how many parents are pointing at the adult for their kids to go and ask for the ball.

Kids are not entitled to HR and foul balls.
Only the poors and childrens should be jumping up and down begging for free t shirt handouts.

If it's a foul ball, I'll hand it to a kid or bring it home to my sons if they aren't at the game. If It's a home run in college, I will do the same. If it's a home run in the majors, I might see if I can get it autographed by that player and give it as a gift.
But I won't give it to someone who asks for it. You find that young kid who isn't running all over looking for it. I look at it like this... maybe giving a baseball to a kid might be the start of that kid's love for the game. Dad might of dragged him to the game, and now he has a professional baseball... throws it around.. ends up playing the sport for years... all because of a baseball that nice guy gave me....
or frick it. Kid loses it in a week and never thinks about it again. Who knows.

I don't see what the big deal is. I hate how everyone pressures people to give stuff to kids at games

I once saw two grown men get into a fight over a foul ball at a Chattanooga Lookouts game.
