Nobody ever thought it was real except for little kids

Most people in the rural area where I grew up in the 70s and early 80s believed it 100%.

Our family was a rare exception, and I had kids in high school and even a friend's father get extremely mad at me for saying it was fake.

It’s just entertainment. No different than watching a fictional movie or tv show and these guys are incredible athletes.

I don’t know…I never found watching oily guys in tights rolling around on the ground together to be particularly entertaining, but you do you.

Everyone knew it was fake but when wrestling really started to go global, you actually had guys with charisma and it was fun. You went to see the people you were fans of and enjoy the spectacle of it. The shite they pass off today as pro wrestling lacks the star power they used to have, thus why they always have to trot out the old guys that are still alive.

whether real of fake, as long as you don't know the winner in advance, you'll watch it. i mean........rocky 4 was fake but, since you didn't know the results, you watched til the end, no?

YES! Almost got some of the "green phlegm" in my eyes as a kid in Shreveport's Municipal Coliseum. 10 year old me thought I was going to be blind.

I just can't watch pro wrestling. Of course it isn't real and all that. Just entertainment... It still makes me feel stupid watching it.

I hate to say it, but I feel pro wrestling is made for mentally challenged people and little kids. I don't understand how a "normal" gorown person watches it...

I also don't see it as the same type of entertainment like a movie or concert.

Downvote away, WWE fans..

Both were some tough SOBs. I know Regal started wrestling at like 15 as part of a circus or carnival act where they would bring in people from the audience to wrestle the talent for prize money so in order to protect to business the wrestler would have to win by any means necessary or risk being fired. He’s a legit shooter from an early age. I’m pretty sure the caveat that they would drop during his matches about him being a former bareknuckle boxer has some truth to it too.
