The Big10 and SEC are destined to get to 20 teams each. The SEC needs four and Big10 needs two.

Option 1: FSU, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia Tech
Option 2 FSU, Clemson, Oklahoma State, NC State

I can’t imagine a scenario where the sec brings in fsu without Clemson. I’d imagine they would rather snatch them up before the Big10.

VT feels like a Big10 natural fit. OK State feels like a SEC fit. Honestly even North Carolina feels like a Big10 school too.

Da hell? I get they’re an Ag school and fit with some. But to me they’re a solid Big XII fit with new adds of BYU Arizona Arizona St Utah.

Nope just kick Vandy for FSU and call it. No one cares about academics and Vandy doesn't even try at football or basketball anymore.

It'll be interesting to see what the SEC does in Florida and South Carolina.

Disagree it’s dumb. The entire landscape has changed and with playoffs continuing to expand well into the 20’s it doesn’t matter how many teams are in a conference. You guys who are stuck on the old model in your mind have to adjust to the new thinking. Conference titles mean nothing moving forward just like they mean nothing in hoops anymore when over 1/3 of your conference gets an invite.

If it makes you feel better to think of of it as a conference made up of 4 mini conferences. But no one cares anymore who won the SEC when 6-7 SEC teams make the 24 team playoff.

Sankey has said in the past that he doesn't plan on pursuing FSU or Clemson because they don't add to the SEC footprint.

Might have changed by now considering the current landscape.

Eta: My prediction is that Sankey changes his mind to not lose FSU and Clemson to the B10.

There is no more need to expand because the 12-team playoff kills that.

It's amazing how dumb these ADs are when the best move for FSU or anyone in the Big12 or ACC is to stay there and get easier paths for the 12 spots.

We have already seen the country is full of stupid people who would gladly pick a team who played a very weak schedule over two who played much harder ones with only one loss.

So it's obvious the best scenario is to stay in a weak conference and get the easy path. Even with one loss you could argue against the two loss teams from the B1G and SEC using the same moronic logic of "better record" that they use every November and December.

Your point makes no sense

Had FSU beat LSU, Ole Miss/Mizzou, Bama and played on national tv 10/12 weeks, they’re in despite the injury to Travis.

Regionalism is over.

Its all gonna be corporate under one umbrella. The South lost again and they don't even know it. Swallowed up whole by greed, ESPN, you name it...Devil went down to Georgia and took their soul that was for sale.

UNC and Va Tech add two decent tv markets and are southeastern states.

Clemson doesn’t add much value. They’ve been good lately in football but historically are meh. And suck at other sports. Small tv market.

FSU I think is a good addition even though we already have the Florida market. Blue blood brand with a large fanbase. Great football and baseball programs. They’re a natural fit for the SEC. Their brand will bring a lot of viewers and lock down the entire Florida market.

OSU doesn’t bring much value either. We have the Oklahoma market now. OSU will likely dominate the big12 so doubt they’d want to leave. Easy path to 12 team playoff

I don’t really know who the best 4th team would be as far as value. I want to keep it in the southeastern region, frick going national. Miami wouldn’t add much they don’t have a very strong fanbase even though they’re a solid program.

I guess Clemson would be about the only choice.

TCU is solid across most sports and would give the SEC a presence in the 3rd largest media market in the country.

I'd assume a&m and UT draw plenty in DFW, no?

Just because it is dumb, doesn’t mean it is not gonna happen.

Maybe you should go look at some of the hundreds of other threads that have discussed all these scenarios ad nauseam……..

TV markets is the old strategy. Now it’s about the brand as we move to more streaming. FSU and Clemson both move the needle there.

North Carolina is a major brand in basketball but not really in football. Maybe if they were playing big dogs almost every week rather than the wake forests and Virginias of the world, that would be different.

NC is a large state that is mostly pro Heels. Can’t help but think they’d be relevant as far as brands go. Their fans would get up.

If they ever got somewhat good again, that’d be a fun atmosphere for an SEC road game
