Yeah that makes sense. I forgot he is already a starter

more than that since it’s a game that actually counts
It "counts" about as much as a week 18 NFL game where one team is 15-1 and has already locked up the #1 seed for playoffs and the opponent is 1-15 and is already guaranteed to have the #1 pick in the draft. Sure, it goes down as an official game, but win, lose, or draw doesn't change anything for either team.
USA was already locked into the next round to play Bosnia. Beating Turkey wouldn't have changed that. Turkey was already eliminated. Beating the US wouldn't have changed that either.
quote:Not even close since the SEC title game in the 12 team playoff era would still effect the playoff bracket and seeding. And likely has a 1st round bye on the line.
It’s about on par with the SEC title
Game in the 12 team era.
USA vs Turkey had zero impact on the bracket. It was a glorified exhibition, which is why the US rested most of their starters. There were 8 or 9 different players who started vs Turkey compared to the starting lineup in the previous game.

We simply must find the perfect American football analogy to have everything make sense

Probably because they were too distracted by the stench of the Turks. They're some stank arse MFers.
If you ho to any European airport and walk around the terminals, you'll know when you're around the Turkish Airlines gates just by the smell.

Soccer is less meaningful than an NFL preseason game

No, I stated it because I'm tired of everyone making excuses for the U.S.
Both sides had issues. Just proved the U'S. hadn't p[layed anybody till last night

The US beat two teams that beat Turkey.

I agree. Was mainly focused on what we learned from this experiment.

I would say your point is wimpier than Pepi
USA was not going to get greedy in this game.
Turkey was very talented but dysfunctional this cup. They've had 3 weeks now to gel & finally looked the way looked in qualifying. They had 62 shots before this game.
They also played the USA B team, a completely swapped out back line, and a team playing for the win instead of parking the bus. Even Spain struggles to score against a parked bus.

and you're a fricking loser.

Have a moron trying to press coverage in the corner, for NO fricking reason. And after he gets arse fricked and abused, have 4 or 5 others stand around with their thumbs firmly shoved up each other's arse, and literally near the goal, but not quite close enough to stop the other team's shot.
And also have a goalie unable to even touch a normal shot, kicked softer than a high schooler could have

Turner as the goalie is quality. But he got taken out of position on that last goal and the defenders were just standing there in the goal.
There is something to be said about possessing the ball at the end.

Not true at all
About 4 sec teams made the playoffs without even playing in the CG and one of them made it further in the playoffs than either of the participants.
It’s basically a glorified exhibition game at this point.
Florida is garbage and likely will
Never make the playoffs or the CG in my life time but if they ever did qualify for the SECCG I’d rather them skip it and focus on the playoffs instead. Again they suck and will never make it anyway but my point stands.
