Well then I stand corrected on that point.

He'd be a Jeff Demps with better elusiveness. I really think DAT cost himself a lot of money by not going to USC to play corner. With his closing speed, quick feet, and return skills he would be a top 10 pick in the draft at corner. Just my 2¢

I still contend DAT is the more elusive open field runner.

And let the record reflect that I was the only one pointing out that Cordarelle Patterson was faster than both.

And call me what you will, but don't ever compare me to Verlander.

There are basically 4 teams in the 14 team SEC with elite level defenses. Alabama, LSU, Florida and South Carolina. That's it. It is not a week in week out grind that SECtards want to believe. Oregon and D'Anthony Thomas would do just fine vs the SEC.

Exactly. DAT would do really well in the SEC. He'd do even better if he played for Oregon in the SEC. NO teams in the SEC would be able to stop Oregon with only 1 week to prepare.

People all thought DeSean Jackson would be too slight to play in the NFL too. DAT is really good and would have a ton of success in the SEC.

Wasn't Lamicheal James the fastest player in college last year when he got tackled from behind by Mingo? Where were those big open spaces for him to run through like we saw last night with ASU?
Oregon is the best school in the country to maximize speed players. Thomas is an explosive player, no doubt, but his explosiveness wouldn't be quite as often if he was playing against defenses that actually knew how to play defense, you know like actually playing with a safety and not letting the opposing team to run a dive up the middle untouched by the line and not have a safety left to make an attempt at a tackle.
Boggles my mind watching games like last night, Baylor-WV and see how stupid the safeties play.

No he wasn't. I find it funny some fans actually think Mingo caught LJ when both had a full steam ahead. The guy is going east west looking for a hole to hit. Mingo was full speed ahead. Awesome play for sure.

I've read plenty of my fellow LSU fans say the same thing. But go ahead and believe Mingo is faster.

People please stop saying "SEC defenses". Its time to be more specific. Only 4 defenses in your conference can be considered good to great. The rest are not very good.

This. It's become so ingrained that it's just lazy hyperbole. A lot of SEC teams the last two years have really fallen off.

But this morning Mel Kiper is talking about..."the SEC gauntlet" and "all those SEC defenses" and then he listed a whopping 2 teams and an ACC team for the Gators "South Carolina, LSU...and even FSU." In claiming how much ridiculously more difficult it is for the Gators to go undefeated.

Leaving off, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Mizzou, Louisiana-Lafayette, Tennessee... Jacksonville State...what a Gauntlet.

Would never say mingo is faster. Just a play u dont see happen against james. There was another play in tjat game, james longest run of the game i think.
He got the ball, huge hole to run through, looks like no one was going to touch him, then hes going to the sideline and reid tackles him for a 15 yard gain. The hole looked huge, like they do against washington and zona and asu, yet he only got a first doen out of it onstead of an easy td.

No and Mingo didn't race him down when both were at full speed. He blew off the line and tackled him from behind.

No doubt he is a talent, but I really don't think he would have as much space to break big runs going up against SEC defenses week in and week out.

Right now they are containing DAT in the PAC - a lot of consternation by Duck fans about his play. However, make no mistake that Mariota's 86 yard run and Barners 71 yard run has to do with DAT being on the field. Defenses are taking him away. However, I wonder why they are doing that with kid that is going to touch the ball 10-15 times. Why not give him his two scores and take out the featured runningback.

Do I really need to say that none of those teams can wear LSU's jockstrap on D (none of them can wear Oregon's jockstrap on D). Reid will be, at worst most likely, the second safety taken in the draft. He's supposed to make that play.
