In claiming how much ridiculously more difficult it is for the Gators to go undefeated.

Leaving off, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Mizzou, Louisiana-Lafayette, Tennessee... Jacksonville State...what a Gauntlet.

I agree with you about simply saying "SEC defenses" when there's only 5 or so that are really that impressive.

However, to imply that a schedule where you face probably 5 teams that are TOP 10 caliber or very close ( LSU, South Carolina, Georgia, FSU +LSU/Alabama in the CG) is not extremely difficult to complete undefeated is simply nonsense.

It's a lot harder to go undefeated against 5 Top10 teams and 7 teams of tuba players and cheerleaders than 8 teams like Arizona State or Missouri but only one or two Top10 teams.

The, latter, more balanced schedule may make it harder for a mediocre team to go 7-5 but it's nowhere near as hard to navigate undefeated. That's what I'm sure he means by "gauntlet" and why he was naming the top teams, you know, the one's where it's not going to be 43-7 at the end of the first quarter.

I wouldn't say 5 or so.

Bama gets the latter for the second year in a row. No gauntlet for them.

Yeah, I was thinking Miss St's looks stout so far but probably you'd just have to say Bama, LSU, South Carolina and Florida at this point.

I also say that--if you've seen my posts--as someone who gives Oregon full credit for how they've looked defensively. It's absurd that people look at final stats when they led Arizona St by 30+ points before they'd hardly given up that many total yards.

I agree, If Bama makes it past @LSU and the SECeast winner at a neutral site then they'll have had 2 huge tests in an "average" BCS schedule that'll include probable Top25 teams like Michigan, Miss St and Tex A&M in addition to 2 Top5-10 teams away from home. Average SOS which, yes, you could hardly call a "gauntlet."

Alabama, like Oregon, has to earn their respect by simply leaving little doubt against the mid-tier teams like they did last year.

My point was about the criticism of Florida's schedule. It's just completely ungrounded spin to point to some easier games on Florida's schedule as if that discounts how tough it is to beat 5 Top10 caliber teams in a season.

I don't think anyone else near the Top25 from other conferences has that sort of top end strength in their schedule? 5 teams solidly in or at least back and forth on the fringe of the Top10?

It's all good and well to play a lot of "bowl teams" but, hell, some of Missouri, Tennessee and Ole Miss will be "bowl teams". Even the biggest Bama homers would hardly say those teams should really be huge road blocks to going undefeated.
