None of this "looking in a vacuum" bullshite. If DAT isn't the most athletic, most explosive player in college football who is?
Geno

He's going to be very successful anywhere in CFB.

It's a question with no real answer. I certainly think DAT qualifies. And i think there are few more guys that are right there on his level. McCallebb is the same exact athlete. 5'10" or so, 175-180... 4.3 speed....elusiveness...etc
Jesus man, ya can't just answer the damn question because of one season's exception. Because one player ended up being a better player in the NFL the question of 'who is most explosive' is forever null and void?
You gotta be kidding me.

What can Thomas do that Mcalebb can't?

better route runner may be all you have there.
how fast do you think Thomas is, and how fast do you think OMC is?

Faster than anyone in the country.

Somewhere after Watkins and Lee.

This is more accurate than comparing him to Percy Harvey, I think.
God no. Demps and Rainey sucked. He's way closer to Harvin.

There's nobody faster in CFB.

Some people really do not realize how big Harvin is
Harvin is definitely a bigger guy than DAT. But he didn't use his size in college. He ran past people, not over them.

Why are people looking at them like they are runningbacks? They are receivers who get a couple of carries.

Look at mccalebs numbers when he actually had talent around him. He put up 8 fricking yards a carry. Dude is every bit the athlete Thomas is
You can say this a thousand times, it isn't going to make it any less ridiculous.
I'm not knocking OMC, but DAT is faster and more elusive, and if you can see with a simple eyeball test then you're a homer.

Why did you pose this question to me?
I think DAT in the SEC would be similar to Harvin.

Actually, this is wrong.
Cordarrelle Patterson is faster than DAT. He ran a 10.33 100m.
DAT ran a 10.57

I know I'm late to the party and I haven't read any responses but here's my take on the kid:
I think he would be just as good (maybe a tiny bit less effective) but the thing I'd worry about is if he took an Elam or Loston style know out blow could he get back up and keep going

right, whatever the media tells you.
-OMC-
95 carries, 810 yards, 8.5 YPC 9 TDs..... In the SEC, as a sophmore...
De'Anthony Thomas, this year, as a sophmore, is on pace for:
exactly 95carries, 879 yards, 9.2 YPC 14 TDs....in the Pac 12
it should embarrass you to say that has no credence

OMC is like 4.35-4.38...you can't get much faster.

100 meter dash best times:
Patterson: 10.33
DAT: 10.57
OMC: 10.99
Don't throw 40 times back at me because they're all hand-timed and suspect until they're done at the combine.
If you don't believe that, let me let you in on a little secret: Bo Jackson's 4.12 40 is about as real as the easter bunny.
