How is Jokic not the MVP favorite? Dude is averaging a triple double again.

SGA has 6 boards and assist a game and somehow is the favorite?
Without Jokic the Nuggets would be a bottom feeder.
He’s the best big man of all time and probably 3rd best player all time behind Jordan and LeBron.

He’s good but no
I mean the advanced stats like him but I don’t know where he stacks up against the other all time greats… he’ll need multiple more championships to get that high on my list

People get bored voting for the same person for MVP.

He'll go down as a top 5 player of all time if he feels like playing that long

Because there’s more to basketball than statistics. Jokic is having his best statistical season but SGA is elevating his team to new heights while the Nuggets are about the same or worse than they have been in recent years with similar talent around Jokic.

Voter fatigue.

Jordan only won 5 MVPs. LeBron only won 4.
Whether fair or not (it’s not fair…) people just don’t like voting for someone again for MVP after they already won a few. A bit similar to College Football Coach of the Year (though not as egregious).

He may one day be the best big man of alltime but he’s not nearly there right now.

At one point this year the Nuggets had the worst Offensive rating in the history of the NBA without Jokic on the floor. With him on the floor they had the best offensive rating in NBA history.
A stat showing he is actually better at elevating his team than SGA

Id be surprised if Jokic goes another 4-5 years. He seems like he wants to retire early and get to the horses

Similar talent? No

This is the same discussion as Josh Allen vs Lamar Jackson MVP debate

If Jokic and the Nuggets win the title this year, it’ll Trump LeBron’s 2013 season which is arguably his best.
But people ain’t ready for that conversation tho!!

I guess having 35 points, 22 rebounds, 17 assists, while shooting 70% doesn’t “elevate the team” because Jokic

Because right now he's averaging
30 points per game (3rd in NBA)
13.1 rebounds per game (3rd in NBA)
10.2 assists per game (2nd in NBA)
1.8 steals per game (4th in NBA)
57% from the field (12th in NBA)]
47.4% from three (3rd in NBA)
81% from the line
Currently has the record for PER in a season, ahead of his previous record set in 21-22. Has the highest career PER ever. Is the greatest passing big (and you could argue regardless of position) ever.
He has an argument for the 22-23 MVP and could/should be going for a 5 peat right now. Instead he'll settle for 4 of 5.
In the big three sports, we've seen maybe 4 of these runs in the last 50 years. Lebron 08-13, Jordan 87-93, Bonds 00-04, Trout 12-16, Ohtani 21-24.

Not apples to oranges here but this is a pretty funny pitch for MVP after that like 4 year run where everyone hated triple doubles because Russell Westbrook was doing everything he could to get that stat

He has 1 defensive player of the year award that has recently come under some fire since its believed all of his home game defensive stats (blocks and steals) were boosted due to teams reporting their own stats back then.
He did get first team all defensive player quite a few times which is not anything similar to being voted MVP
