re: Horace Grant says Michael Jordan lied constantly in 'Last Dance', calls him a 'snitch'

IMO Pippen came out looking bad because his own actions caused him to look bad. All those things were well documented before the doc, so its not like Jordan made that stuff up.
Jordan also included negative things about himself. Is Scottie such a moron he thinks Jordan should only say the good about Pippen? That wouldnt have flied with the masses because everyone who followed those teams knows of Pippen's immature ways, so the doc wouldn't have been an honest piece.
If there is any motivation behind Jordan bringing the stuff up other then just wanting an accurate story, then it might have something to do with Pippen often saying LeBron is the GOAT in the media. He has said that on the Rachel Nichols show The Jump multiple times.

The Leboys are scratching for things to attack MJ with. This silly narrative that by green lighting the DOC during some event without it ever getting out until 5 years later as some upstaging attempt makes literally zero sense yet they act as if it’s fact. And now taking 3rd party quotes from someone who was actually on the DOC and signed off on his part in it now saying it was all a lie lol. And of course the fake Pippen stuff after it was clearly stated by Jordan “there is no Michael Jordan without Scottie Pippen”. He didn’t have or need to say that, he did it out of respect and gratitude but we’re supposed to believe he’s using subversion to take shots at Pip now? These people are so spun it’s pure hilarity.

What do you think most major celebrities deal with every time they go out in public?
Throughout the 1990s and beyond, Michael Jordan was the most famous person on the planet by a fairly wide margin. Did you not watch the videos of people hounding his arse every time he went outside? Did you not see the footage of what he had to put up with in 92 in Barcelona?
MJ reached heights of fame that players before and after have never reached. Hell, most movie stars and musicians don’t reach the heights of fame that he did.

Part of the NBAs extended coverage now shows players leaving and arriving at venues all the time. We can see with our own eyes it’s nothing like the way Jordan was mobbed yet again the fanboys try to construct some alternate reality.

Jordan’s a bitch. Straight up. Greatest basketball player...yes...but a bitch? Also yes.
This dude cannot take any criticism. The whole documentary process was solely because he was jealous Lebron was getting attention after bringing a title to Cleveland.
Watching him laugh at Gary Payton’s quote in episode 8 was sad. The dude just couldn’t respect another good player.
I wouldn’t have wanted to be interviewed for that if I was a fellow player. This wasn’t about the Bulls’ “Last Dance.” It was 10 hours of people sucking off MJ and biting their lip in the process.

That’s all well and good but SI was profiting millions of Jordan’s image. I don’t really have a problem with him shutting down access to organizations like that who make their money and then take a cheap shot.
I'd say it was a mutually beneficial relationship. SI was the top sports publication and MJ's profile was significantly bolstered by appearing on the cover more than any other athlete in history.

So Horace Grant is a Leboy?

That’s even weak for a straw man

This thread is about Horace Grant and what he said. Why don't you just deal with that content instead of deflecting to the "Leboys."

Are you running everyone through your narrow vetting criteria or just the people you disagree with? Should’ve just put a fascist censorship disclaimer on the OP so we’d know.

I didn’t attack any of your post or even respond to you bro. Why are you jumping convos just to try and put me line? Seems excessive and strange.

The Rat says he wasn’t a Rat. Groundbreaking revelations you can only get here on the MSB from Lebrons investigative team of experts.

The documentary was fun nostalgia. I enjoyed watching it, but it was clearly for MJ.
Like with Payton. Payton limited him to 5-19 shooting in Game 6, but the Bulls pulled it out with a tremendous team defensive effort.
Watching the doc, you'd think Payton didn't really do much with MJ laughing him off. The only Game 6 mention is MJ winning on Father's Day.
It was a documentary that gave us the myth. It was enormously entertaining, but it never challenged MJ. When he called Grant a snitch...the book's author says Grant didn't leak, but you don't get that.
It was a fun trip down memory lane, but not much more.

Ngl, it's pretty funny that you keep bringing up Lebron in a Horace Grant thread. You're way to invested in this.

If we're honest with ourselves this wasn't a docu-series, but a Jordan retort to all his naysayers over the years. Pippen not good enough to win without him and weak. Rodman was a headcase he had to control. The teams they went up against were great and despite all the obstacles Jordan did it all with a bunch of guys that without him would be doing coke and walking out of practices. It was entertaining, but this wasn't a docu-series
I went into TLD with the understanding that it was going to be flattering as hell to Jordan because it took him so long to greenlight it, because he was heavily involved and had creative approval, and because he's notoriously thin-skinned. It was entertaining, especially for those of us who grew up in the 90s and enjoyed the nostalgia trip, but it was hardly some groundbreaking example of documentary excellence.
It was never going to be this revelatory tell all, and I'm surprised that people like Bill Simmons and others were beating the drum that Hehir "didn't hold back" and that they were "shocked" at some of the stuff that was allowed to be included. They allowed themselves to get played, because the 'controversial' stuff was glossed over and excused away. The gambling, the prickly thin skinned nature, and being overly hard on teammates were all rolled into the myth-making about how competitive Jordan was and how dedicated to excellence he was. Even the incident where he punched Kerr was framed to paint Jordan in a positive light and reflect his leadership ability and potential to be humble.
Two things I think we can all agree on - a) the crying about how competitive he is was absolutely fake and forced, and b) the pizza story as told in the doc has to be bullshite.
But all that aside, the real travesty was how it painted Pippen in a very poor light, and how Jerry Krauss was made (unfairly) to both be the villain and get no credit for the part he played in creating the Bulls runs. It was utterly laughable that they made Krauss out to be some sort of coattail rider who coasted into a great situation, and how they gave him all of the blame for dismantling the Bulls but absolutely none of the credit for assembling TWO different dynasties around Jordan. No credit for arguably the greatest draft day haul ever in Pippen and Grant. No credit for flipping Charles Oakley for Bill Cartwright. No credit for finding Phil Jackson in the CBA. No credit for hiring Tex Winter to teach the Triangle, or pushing Doug Collins to run it. Krauss was a petty, vindictive person who obviously had an inferiority complex and an ego to match, but the treatment of him in TLD was laughable.
And I can't believe I even have to say this, but I should have prefaced all of the above by mentioning that I don't like LeBron. Figured I'd get that out there before I get passed off as a LBJ fanboy.

Very well stated. And, other than letting him respond to the targeting from Jordan and Pippen in the Olympics, I felt like Kukoc got no run. If you didn't know better, this doc would lead you to believe he was the 12th man.

He didn’t even paint himself in a positive light in that scenario.

Pippen painted himself in a negative light. What Jordan said about Pippen wasn’t untrue. Hell, with the 1.8 deal Mike said that that wasn’t Pippen’s character to do something like that.

The strange thing is that when Michael’s dad died, he never went through some midlife crisis like Tiger did.
Uh....

Exactly. This thing would not happen today. Lebron isn’t punching a guy in the face without being dealt with.

This was interesting. Did Jordan’s trainer really tip off these pizza guys that the pizza was for MJ? Why would 5 guys (if that’s true) show up to deliver a pizza to a large hotel...even if they knew it was where the Bulls were staying.

Also true. I don’t think this happens now either. The influence of Jordan was that strong. We talk about the Lebron fanboys, and Windhorst being the center of it. Jordan had it better. Ahmad Rashad, David Aldridge, etc. Looking back, they were not great reporters. They just rode the train.
