High school football rivalry pettiness with Vestavia v. Hoover in Alabama

I thought this sounded a like a good, old school jab from one rival to the other. Kind of like when Yale tricked Harvard into holding up placards spelling "WE SUCK" a few years back.
Vestavia and Hoover scheduled to play on Thursday, October 8th @Vestavia. Vestavia scheduled the game for the 8th because their school system is on fall break the 9th-13th. They submitted the schedule and the district committee voted that the game could play on the Thursday.
Well, last minute right before the school year starts, Hoover appealed to the AHSAA to move the game from Thursday to Friday and won their appeal.

One of the biggest high school football games of the season is getting a last-minute schedule change.
Vestavia Hills City Schools says the Alabama High School Athletic Association has directed this year’s home matchup against Hoover to be played on Friday, Oct. 9, instead of Thursday, Oct. 8, which was the original date for the game on this year's schedule.
School leaders say they chose the Thursday date because students are out the next day for Fall Break, making it easier for families, students, and staff to fill the stands.

According to the district, Hoover High School preferred to play on Friday.
“That same Thursday we were scheduled to play with Hoover, the other Hoover City high school, Spain Park High School, is playing on Thursday because it’s also on Fall Break,” said Robert Evans, the Vestavia Hills Head Football Coach.

School leaders say the change creates major disruptions for families, students, football players, band members, cheerleaders, and staff, many of whom made travel and personal plans after the school calendar was released.

I'm in vestavia and when I first saw this I thought it was busch league too, but then I read that Hoover schools are also on the same break. So it's inconveniencing Hoover just as much as it is vestavia. Much Ado about nothing, imo.

I can’t think of a more overrated program that mid 2000s Hoover High.

High school games should always be played on Fridays

Unfortunately, this isn't a reality anymore due to lack of officials. In our area each team is asked to play at least one Thursday night game a year due to not having enough refs to go around.

How do you mean? State champions of Alabama's highest classification in 2000, 2002-2005, and 2009. And then state champions again in 2012-2014 and 2016-2017. And in 2013 they won the coveted national championship after going 15-0.
They have definitely fallen off since Niblett left but to say they were overrated when they were in their prime is quite the stretch.

Hoover got whipped by Jawn Curtis in 2006.

Was this game televised? I think I remember watching it.
