Zero reason to play anyone with a pulse with how the committee has set precedent. Should expect this to hit everyone which is why I had no problem with what LSU did weeks ago.
IU benefits further since the big 10 is top heavy and can you can feasibly avoid 75% of the top team during the season you have a cakewalk to the playoff. Even if you lose your one game to a good team and then lose the conference title game, you're still easily in at 11-2.

It’s a fricking disgrace and a joke, but they’ve got it figured out. Why play anyone worth a damn?

Big Ten hates competition

it makes no sense for Notre Dame to play the game - they have an easy path to the title
it makes no sense for Indiana to play anyone of significance because the Big Ten doesn't make them
I guess Cignetti will use the excuse that no one wants to schedule them
It's time for the SEC to shelve the extra power four game

The stupidity of this + the cucking and adding a 9th conference game still baffles me.

100% true
Anyone who doesn't do the same is a fool

I would rather watch my team lose a close game on the road to a top 25 OOC opponent than watch my team blow out an FCS team by 50 at home. The FCS rent-a-win games are almost unwatchably boring.
I understand that this is an unpopular opinion and actively discouraged by the current playoff system.

LSU-Southern had me wondering if they would pull the first string by the end of the 1st.
That was a massacre.

Absolutely this.
LSU should take note - why are you playing Clemson as your season opener when you could be playing Southeastern Louisiana University or Hofstra as your season opener?

Because college football is entertainment, and playing Clemson is a lot more entertaining than Southeastern to anyone who actually watches sports rather than simply uses it as a projection for their identity and unfulfilled dreams of success. The fan who wants what is best for their team at all costs wants to go undefeated by any means necessary, even if that means competing against scrubs and blowing them away. They don’t exist to be entertained by the action on the field, only to have their self worth validated by the success of their favorite team.
The fan who wants to be entertained wants their team to win against the best of the best because that’s actually fun to watch. Sure, winning is better than losing, but a close game is a lot more fun than a blowout.

Famous saying, show me the incentives and I'll show you the outcome.
Committee has shown that they punish losses far more than they reward tough schedules.

Wait, so you want schedules to become… let me get this straight… WEAKER?

The B1G minus Rutgers and Purdue should do an SEC-B1G challenge in football.

The future of non-conference scheduling thanks to the current format.

Let’s all take a moment to recognize we are now complaining g about INDIANA not playing anyone worth a damn on the out of conference schedule. Lol

Why focus on Indiana?
Beginning next season, won’t LSU’s non-conf schedule look pretty similar?
That should become the norm for SEC too, right?

9 conference games will do this.
Charity games will ever go away sadly.
