This. The bench is not deep in the college color commentator dugout. Best to just let Herbie have a moment every now and then.

Maybe he needs to take a few months off, and tend to his family

Can the board give it a rest for a bit when it comes to hating on Herbie?

I can get behind this, does he go a little overboard on his antics at times, a little but he loves college football as much as the rest of us.

Dude seems to have been through a lot. I’ve never had a problem with the guy. Best of luck to him and his family.

Why should I care? Plenty of people with much tougher jobs, much tougher situations have family members with Cancer. But this guy needs our extra support cause his fricking dog died and his super hard job that pays him such little money is tough to do with everything the is dealing with.

Cancer sucks and I hope his wife beats it, but I am sick of these celebrities being total shite heads and acting like they are somehow having these massive struggles.

A coach making multi millions and buying up players for upwards of $20 million doesn’t fail and I am supposed to be impressed and feel for them getting shite on by their fanbases when they screw up?

Unbelievable how pathetic this world has become to try and act like either of those guys are “victims”

Yet you proceed to add word vomit after that sentence…

Who is asking for extra support. I just asked if this means the keyboard warriors will refrain from being a dick when there’s a thread about him. I’m not sure being a populist means you need to have zero sympathy for a guy when his wife has cancer.

How is he being a shithead? Cancer and the death of a dog would be a massive struggle to lots on this board. Those things don’t discriminate based on income.

What does this have to do with Kirk?

I fw Herbie.
Ohio St is his team and they were dominant winning a natty. I cried each time LSU won.
Life kicked him in the balls this year and his ball team gave him some joy.

Cry it out,bubba.

This right here.

In 2017 my dad was diagnosed with a type of Leukemia that had a five-year survival rate of less than 30%. That was a very tough year emotionally for me, made all the more difficult by the fact that I was stationed thousands of miles away from him. Even before his cancer diagnosis I had been struggling with my mental health and had even thought about suicide for the first (and only) time in my life. On top of that, I lost a beloved pet that had been in my life since the year 2000.

When Alabama won the national championship at the end of that college football season I was about the happiest I ever could remember being. It was as if my world, even if it was for just one brief moment, had brightened considerably. I can imagine that Kirk Herbstreit felt two nights ago the same way I did seven years ago.

Hopefully Kirk has the same happy ending that I did. My dad is still with us and cancer-free.

Jeez, dude really can't catch a break. Turns out the guy actually doesn't cry enough. I've always liked Herbstreit and the crying never bothered me, it especially doesn't now.

I would've felt more for his dog dying if he didn't have a new one ready to replace the following week
