Year 6 and he went 5-7. No bowl game in a time where basically every P4 goes to a bowl.

Just odd. Unless they thought this hiring cycle would not go well for them.

They lost to Auburn. That should be enough

They still might

But by all accounts he has a pretty good relationship with the big boosters They cannot keep up with UT and A& M they did not keep up with Tech this year

Sic em nation sees TCU as their equal /rival in football and TCU didn't do great

Probably replace a coordinator, probably given another year

Besides there's so many better programs that have vacancies baylor may wait till they have a better selection

There was a solid 36 hours after that game where there was some serious consideration in approaching the idea that maybe Jackson Arnold was a good quarterback.

I figured TCU had significantly more rich donors. Not quite SMU but close

I think Aranda kept one assistant from Matt Rhule’s staff when he took the job at Baylor.

That assistant was Joey McGuire. Joey is now leading Texas Tech to the playoffs.

None of them lack of donors with enough money to do it Quite honestly a lot of those donors would rather support their high school teams where they get more Bang for the buck

The only College in Texas that doesn't have the depth of rich donors is UH

They had to force out their AD for being a drunken moron who attacked a player and a coach over wearing a long sleeve shirt w/his uniform.

They need to get that shite squared away before they move on a coach.

Yep figured it was too messy of a situation with their AD to have a coaching change

Bad year to hire a coach, but really the most impactful thing that has kept him on was AD Rhoades stepping down. Had Rhoades remained, I think he would've been let go. Baylor wants to have an AD in place before making a football hire, they don't have the brand pedigree like LSU to start the search with an interim.

Agreed, you need to project stability within your department for a coach to take a chance on you. So this will be a prove it year for Aranda under their new AD.

That is the exact reason Rousse made Verge permanent. Not sure if it is true, but some are reporting that the buyout for Kiffin to leave is cut by 50% if Verge is gone. That’s Kiffin leaving on his own accord, not being fired.

Last year he just had them 8-5. This is Baylor. That's not a program with the highest expectations. If you can make a solid run for 9-10 wins every 3-4 years, that's a successful coach. He won the Big 12 4 years ago.

That being said, I do believe this upcoming season is make or break for Aranda. If he wins anything less than 8 games next season, he is probably gone.

They’re waiting for a day that may never come if schools are more fickle than ever in the new landscape

1) bad year to fire a coach
2) I’m not sure that Baylor has had any mega booster step up to the plate and throw the kind of money required to compete with TT and BYU. Until someone does, it will be tough going.

Take him please! He ran the defense and it was a total failure. Everyone wants him gone except the University President. The players like him personally but he leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to being a head coach. Zero Emotion.
