Plaquemine has a team that had like 7 or 8 shutouts - I think 1979 or 1980

1981 Patterson High... Lost to Curtis in the final... Dalton was amazing on that team along with Kevin Butler at RB........

You must be thinking of 1979 Patterson.

1981 was the first year all of the state championships were in the Dome and all on the same day. Curtis beat ED White 21-17 in the first game. BTW, EDW beat Patterson for the district title that year.

West Monroe 1999 was pretty stout.

They lost 20-14 to Evangel in the Dome.
Brock Berlin throw up a fluttering duck pass up for grabs in the end zone in the last minute of the game. An Evangel receiver, who must have been 6'5", out jumped the WM DB and scored the winning TD.

The WM DB was probably around 5'7-8".

Michael Franklin was on that St Aug team and got run down by WM’s Jared Frost!

And one of Frost's WM teammates was quoted in the newspaper, saying "Jared Frost is one fast white boy".

Iota back in the early 2000s had just won state in 2A, then came back the next year to whip up on everyone else again, but somehow got beat in the Dome by freaking Farmerville!

I was a Sophomore on the Iota team. We had some really good player-nothing like the other teams mentioned here. But our RB, Jason Miller, won Mr. Louisiana that year. He and our RT, Brent Pousson, went to McNeese on scholarship. Brent did a couple of short stints with the Cleveland Browns practice squad after graduating Fromm McNeese. I played RT, so yea needless to say I didn't see the field in the Finals

Iota opened the game by kicking off to Farmerville. The kickoff was mishandled and ended up in a touchback. Farmerville started on their own 20 and we were pumped thinking they had a long way to drive.

First play from scrimmage, Farmerville RB went for an 80-yard TD. That was the difference in the game.

The team with that goofy offense that E.D. White absolutely curb-stomped in the playoffs?

Speaking of E.D. White, want to say they were a #1 seed in the playoffs and lost to a #32 ranked West St. Mary team.

1980 Rummel Raiders...11AAAA undefeated district champs. Lost to Ehret in OT in the first round. Ehret went on to win state...

Oh yeah, Jay Roth was the starting QB..

This team

dude ehret didn't even make it to the finals in 80.... blew a 14 pt lead to barbe in semis at dome to lose 15-14 the 80 ehret team was 12-2 losing to esj and barbe the state champs and runner's up..... so rummel was maybe the 5-6 best team in la that year..> New Iberia and neville were better than rummel.... neville lost in semis to esj.. bubby brister.... 1981 ehret won state and shouldn't have even been in the playoffs if west jeff filed their appeal fast enough..

Greatest LHSAA teams to not win state
1979 Winnfield. 6 future D-1 players, 4 of whom played at LSU and two of whom made it to the NFL.
you sure that wasn't 77 or 78?

The late Mark Howie, Lynn Fink etc. You'll probably disagree, but I thought that team was a beneficiary of a weak BR district.

By the way, per topic, I'd go with 1980 John Ehret.

see my post 80 ehret was good.. but on the field the 2 that beat them were better.. esj and barbe

I seem to recall in '82 or '83 .... Teurlings had a season without allowing a point....only to lose to John Curtis in the final. Think it was 26-8.

Think Jed and Jay Hebert were on that team.

1982 the only team in la history to go 10-0 with no points allowed.... until the first drive of the first quarter at pan am but that JC team finished with 2 losses..... so that was by no means there best.....bogalusa beat em in regular season and winnfield in dome.

That's right.. It's been a while...lol Still a great team though..

Easton Roth was one of my favorite coaches in La. HS Football, and that was a horrible first round draw for an undefeated Rummel team.

great dude.. enjoy this video..... LINK

I wouldn’t say they were one of the greatest teams of all time statewide, but the Belle Chasse team that got smoked by parkview in the dome was pretty good

Chris Henry was on that team (RIP bro)

Ill nominate Chalmette who went 8-2 in 1978 as the greatest team who didn't even go to the playoffs... Kept out by one point and one yard against the state champion St. Aug team

1983 bro mart 9-1 and church point 9-1.. they were the reasons the wildcard came to be....

78 owls were very good though.. but late 60 owl teams the best ever... from there norris and stan
