The Spirits of St. Louis and the Kentucky Colonels were real victims of the ABA-NBA merger along with the Flint Tropics (not so real).

The Edmonton Eskimos...Victims of CFL Political Correctness

The Ottawa Rough Riders...no longer in the CFL although greatness ensued when the played the Saskatchewan Rough Riders (who still exist)

Cleveland Spiders

A damn shame they didn't go back to this when they caved and abandoned the Indians.

(Not the real logo but it's great.)

The Brass and Voodoo sound really stupid, especially because it doesnt have that plural ring. "Pelicans" is an excellent name. Too bad basketball blows

Going from this to the Hofstra Pride has always mystified me.

As far as I know, there wasn't even a small fringe group pushing for a name change. The school did it just because, and claimed Pride was "more meaningful".
