I'm an avid darts fan and watch live streams through PDC Live (Professional Darts Corporation) and on streaming services sponsored by Fan Duel and when watching the streams by Fan Duel the odds are constantly being updated as the match progresses.

I do agree that some people have very little self control when it comes to gambling, but it's nothing new. I'm 71 and have known degenerate gamblers my entire life but at least they needed to go find a barroom bookie or travel to OTB sites, race tracks, etc. to make their bets.

Legalizing it has made it much easier for those with no self control to get into serious financial trouble without even having to leave their couch.

I really think it's promoting some poor behavior and is going to have long-term consequences, especially on younger men (who are most prone to being influenced by this stuff).

I always thought there was supposed to be an ethical line between journalism and gambling. But Espn blew through that.

i miss settling with the bookie. we need more forced socialization with our vices

used to have to meet a bookie at some dive bar, now it is just an app

used to have to ask to bum a smoke, now everyone just does a zyn

used to smell when someone was smoking weed, now you just do an edible

used to be able to drink 20 light beers all day, now you have 9% ABV beers and you are home by dinner.

can't even do cocaine anymore cause fent might be in it

When social media happened most importantly Twitter/X was launched that was pretty much the end for sports shows.

At one time I probably knew a dozen or so bookies on a fairly personal level, and yes, most of them worked out of local neighborhood bars, often out of the same back room that you'd find weekend cash poker games going on.

Once video poker came into play, cash games in the bars pretty much disappeared since they'd lose their machines if caught doing cash games.

This implies that there was ever a time when they didn't suck.

the funny part, is that some of the sports force teams to disclose injury reports and make the teams make player availa or unavail.

everything that has made nfl popular is because of gambling.

fantasy football has put billions into nfl coffers, as well as daily fantasy football, then add in office pools and sports gambling. they cater to books.

The NFL misses out on big opportunities for money when the NFL proposed the single team pay per view deal. They could have rolled in streaming content for all access for every team with wall to wall coverage and charged a huge premium. Surprised ESPN didn't think of that and they could have gotten more revenue and got some decent talent to cover each team at a cheap price, too

Sports shows had become boring and predictable. All day of talking heads, spouting off the same takes. IMO the gambling edge has added to the coverage. I only listen to the gaming shows. Those other shows, especially on Espn, are terrible.

only if you suck at them.

strikeouts and innings pitched in MLB

as well as points scored in WNBA are $$$$ makers for me

No odds in betting football except for parlays. Never understood the concept. Besides, why would I bet $110 for a possible return of $100 (net profit of $90)? Don't have that in par mutuel wagering. I'd rather bet $100 on a horse to win at even money, and get back $200.and some change.

I hope I never reach a point in my life where I’m betting on strikes being thrown or WNBA at all.

Exchange the sponsors Draftkings & Fanduel with 1800 flowers and Coors Light and the shows are the same awful bullshite they were 10 years ago.

Say all you want about gambling but internet/smartphones have 20x more to do with ruining sports talk than gambling has because the only way to be relevant now is to be a hot take artist.

Sport shows ruined sports shows... That's why they promote Gambling, or whatever product is paying them.

follow the money, also you will be happier not watching whomever the shithead on TV, yelling at you about whatever subject.

The mob thanks local municipalities for the future business. New degenerate gamblers coming. Lots of opportunity for bookies are already happening
