I'm watching online and these "Between Two Rexes" promos, and I realize another reason why I'm starting to hate the NFL.

If you read between the lines, they're saying "Watch NFL Countdown. Watch Rex Ryan be a ***. Maybe we'll talk about football too."

The NFL this year feels like that thing that comes on your television between the Odell Beckham commercials.

For some people. But I still love CFB even though LSU f'n sucks. (Don't really have a NFL team so can't relate there)

Maybe it's over saturation

i've cut way down on watching TV and that really hasn't helped out.

if anything, I'm watching less CFB and NFL cause neither product is crossing my mind as much.

I think both used to be way better and if anything the game will continue to change to make things safer. I don't have a problem with that necessarily but its become more about money these days at both major levels in my opinion.

Just had this discussion at work today. Especially with NFL. There has been an over saturation lately, even in the summer that's all you hear about that it's now year round.

I feel this about the NBA

Of course everyone realizes at a certain age they don't HAVE to watch the 25th game of 82...

I would prefer better Monday night matchups

Me too, but the NFL started putting their marquee matchups on Sunday night when MNF went from ABC to ESPN.

I can't tell if it's me or if the product on the field but I find that I really don't care very much about football nearly like I used too. While it sucks that LSU lost and will probably lose a lot this year, it really is not a big deal to me. The Saints suck and I'm getting used to that again. None of it really matters like it used too.

I wouldn't pay any attention to the NFL if it wasn't for fantasy.

The NFL is now an 8-8 league and that is what is killing it. There are no more truly great teams that dominate the regular season. The closest we have are the Pats and the AFC East has has made it pretty easy for them to win most seasons the last 17 years.

There are too many completely average teams that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between if the jerseys had no logos or names on them.

All most teams do now is tread water for the bulk of the year and hope they go on a run late.

Dump the cap, up the roster limits, bring back big time dynasties.

Dynasties are dying because all the good QBs are getting old or retiring. And it's not getting any better.

I don't understand this argument.

The NBA is literally 24/7, maybe moreso than the NFL, and it's exploding in ratings.

I think it's just that the product has really gone down. The NBA is really putting out an entertaining product whereas the NFL has gotten pretty meh.

And this comes from a diehard football fan.

There was a good article that Mark Cuban did in 2014 about the future decline of the NFL.

A few quotes

"I think the NFL is 10 years away from an implosion. Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I'm just telling you, when you've got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you. That's rule No. 1 of business."
