Pete Thamel on ESPN: "Those in the SEC office wouldn't be eager to add Florida State, but the wouldn't be eager to allow the Big Ten to plant a flag in Tallahassee either."

Which is why the SEC should add FSU. B10 can settle for Miami.
Same reason Sankey had no choice when OU and Texas came calling because the latter would've definitely joined the B10 otherwise.

Because the B1G media deal and Research money absolutey DWARFS the SEC. These schools are NOT taking LESS money to go to the SEC. It’s that simple!! It’s financially irresponsible for these schools to go to the SEC…that’s how much money the B1G and media exposure has moving forward. SEC anchored themselves to ESPN…enough said.

It's very easy for the SEC.

Assuming you start and circle back on ND at the end,

you take FSU, UNC, and Virginia.

This leaves Miami at an outpost, which the B1G has no more use for. And Clemson as abandoned, which the B1G doesnt want either.

You play offensive and defensive in one move. Don't overthink this.

Clemson, outside of the last few years, was never anything more than a regional brand.

They're arguably the strongest CFB in the ACC and yes, brands are important when it comes to TV sets watching.

What does Virginia offer the SEC or the B1G?

They have no tradition in football nor basketball…and in terms of branding/marketability…they are pretty ‘meh’. It’s a solid academic school and that’s about it.

Apparently there are documents related to the ESPN contact tgat can only be viewed in NC. No pictures or copies are allowed. The ACC filed a lawsuit vs FSU to keep the contents secret. Rumor is there is no dollar amount set past 2027. TL;DR FSU is only on the hook for 3 more years. They gone.

While true...thats only if they can win in a likely NC courtroom.

Better hope you font get a Duke or WF judge in the bench.

Going to be real interesting if they win in court though.

Lulz they are

Alabama has played in some of the most watched regular season games despite not being in a top 25 market. The same with Ohio State without being in a top 15 market.

The SEC took on Missouri because of the
KC and St Louis TV markets and guess what? Both markets essentially don't GAS about CFB.

lol, it gave them 2 top 30ish markets for tv sets, and more cable networks to sell 2.

this board has some of the dumbest fricks on here, they make the rant look intelligent.

quote:

Eleven of the SEC's 14 teams finished the season among the top 32 most-viewed teams, according to numbers Nielsen ratings released by Action Network on Tuesday.

No. 4 Alabama (12-1, 8-0 in SEC play) was the most-viewed team in college football, with No. 6 Georgia (12-1, 8-0) at No. 4 among teams with at least five Nielsen-rated games.

Incoming SEC teams Texas and Oklahoma were Nos. 8 and 26, respectively, further bolstering the conference's foothold in the college football world. The top five, in order, features Alabama, Ohio State, Colorado, Georgia and Michigan.

The other SEC teams in the top 32 are Tennessee (No. 6), LSU (No. 12), Auburn (No. 15), Missouri (No. 16), Florida (No. 17), Ole Miss (No. 18), Texas A&M (No. 20), Kentucky (No. 31) and Mississippi State (No. 32). All of the teams in the top 32 pulled in over 2 million viewers per game.

top 6 in SEC in viewers per game, 16 out of all cfb teams

Missouri pulls good Nielsen ratings. Maryland and Rutgers do not. Missouri was 16th nationally this season despite getting kind of shitty tv slots - ahead of Florida, Ole Miss, A&M, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt.

Maryland averages half of the viewers Mizzou does and Rutgers about one third the viewers.

I swear y’all just make shite up to dig on Mizzou.

LMAO!

This discussion involves TV markets vs brands and if SEC TV viewership proves anything, brands are just as important if not more so.

Combined bigger markets than Birmingham,Knoxville,Baton Rouge,New Orleans, Greenville,Lexington/Louisville and Nashville and keep in mind the only SEC and P5 team in the state barely moved the needle for CFB viewership.

Typical.

Anytime you wanna deal with reality and facts let know.

Sorry St Louis and KC are pro sports towns and absolutely kill it when it comes to NFL and MLB ratings but not so much in regards to CFB.

Are you really trying to tell me Missouri brings more viewers across the country than a FSU or a Clemson?

And I'm a window licker?

And their fans are so annoying. Acting like they have the history of a Blue Blood, when they are below Ole Miss.
