In the past 20 years: They ruined CUSA and the Sun Belt. They ruined the Big East. They ruined the XII. They ruined the PAC. ...and now they are going to ruin the ACC. We are running out of conferences to destroy, folks.

The ACC started all this when they raided the Big East

Conferences were pretty stable back then

Only have themselves to blame

There’s only 2 Power conferences left for football and if you think you are ‘big time’ and your name isn’t Notre Dame, you better be in one of them

Why are they allowed to be treated differently? They should be required to join a conference as well

Not SEC but I legit think I might would rather have UNC over poor lil' Clemson, for multiple reasons but mostly I want a more compelling basketball conference. The SEC already has a South Carolina team, take the opportunity to expand into an area without a presence. Also they aren't a fourth Tigers mascot. Unfortunately I don't think UNC will leave Duke.

If they won’t leave Duke, then offer FSU, UVA, VT, and NC State.

I'd say the merger between the Big 8 and SWC was the first big shot fired.

That, and Penn State opting for the Big 10 instead of the Big East. PSU should have been the Big East anchor.

Right now, there's 2 competing philosophies in college football. The SEC wants to maintain a sense of geographic boundaries, which will help all other sports besides football.
The Big 10 seems to want to replace the NCAA as the governing body, and is trying to absorb all relevant programs regardless of the location. It's neat that USC and Penn State can compete for the same conference championship (in theory), but every sport outside football is going to suffer huge expenses.

The SWC was going to die regardless. Whereas the ACC outright stole the most valuable football programs from the Big East in 03.

nobody gives a f*** about college basketball baw...except a weekend or 2 of it. these type of decisions are driven by $$$ and these basketball schools UVA, Duke etc need to bugger off. they don't bring anything to football which is the sport that matters money wise

Legitimately one of the dumbest post on here in a long time

He has a point. The Celebration Bowl had higher ratings than Indiana/Kansas. Kentucky/UNC barely beat the Los Angeles Bowl. The average person just doesn't care about CBB outside of March.

Correct.

The SWC was starting to fall apart in the late-80s. Arkansas saw the writing on the wall and bolted for the SEC at the first opportunity. At least the Big 8 and SWC merged into one conference; the ACC raided the Big East and absolutely destroyed that conference.

UVA and UNC will choose the Big10 over the SEC because of its academics. IMO the SEC should add FSU, Clemson, Miami, and VT.

VT has the largest alumni base in the DC and beltway than any other school. I was surprised by this.

Dabo leaves for bama

There is 0 chance Bama hires Dabo. He is stubborn and stuck in his ways. Not adapting to NIL and the transfer portal is going to kill their program.

Good. They will likely win too.

How do you figure that? FSU knowingly and willingly signed the GOR and voted for its extension? Just like the 10 departing PAC12 schools found out when their case went to court, judges are unlikely to throw out a contract.

can't imagine FSU wanting to cut a deal with the SEC. Bobby Bowden verbally said he wanted no part in playing ALABAMA and the barners every year. Now what? The SEC is a death march to the playoffs.

Now FSU’s chickens have come home to roost. I still think the committees reasons for putting Bama in over FSU are bullshite. However the FSU meltdown has been glorious to watch.

UNC has been pretty open that the SEC is their first choice. Not sure why everyone keeps repeating the BIG talk.

UNC wants SEC.

FSU wants B1G.

I think the rest just want whatever seat they can get
