You can have a 20 team SEC, with a 10 game conference schedule, east and west divisions, preserve all rivalries and even restore some old ones.
Remove Mizzou (or Vandy).
Add Clemson, FSU, Ga Tech, Ok St, Miami
If you remove Mizzou then everyone's natural SEC or state rivalry is in the conference and they can play each year. If you remove Vandy, then the Vols just have to play them as an OOC game each year to preserve that rivalry, which isn't much of one.
It would be, hands down, the best conference in the nation, with the toughest schedule and most respect.
Here is what it would look like with Mizzou gone. It restores the UF v Auburn rivalry, so those teams have an extra SEC game, which could just be un-counted for SEC standings.
B = bye or OOC game.
Start the season on the last Saturday in August, go for 15 weeks, CCG games are done by Dec 10th roughly. Use the BCS numbers, top four, 4 travels to 1 and 3 travels to 2, play on Jan 1st, then title game on Jan 10th. That's your season. That's 12 games, 3 bye weeks. Or with two bye weeks the season ends one week sooner and the title game can be done before Spring semester starts.
ETA - I have USC playing itself, supposed to be a B, naturally. Forgot to add UK and Louisville rivalry. Just wouldn't be a conference game. One of the B's for UGA would be the FSU game.

Well, frick you too. I can understand the 10-team traditionalists wanting Mizzou gone, but fantasizing about replacing us with Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, or Miami is just a kick in the balls.

I don't think the SEC is ever going to remove one of their first ten members in Vanderbilt. And, quite frankly, I don't think any SEC fan should want Vanderbilt removed. Who is to say that Mississippi State wouldn't be next? And, even besides that, you just totally lose tradition.
As a fan of a Big Ten team, as much as I groan about playing a school like Purdue or Northwestern, there is a certain tradition/familiarity that isn't there against Rutgers/Maryland, let alone if the Big Ten added schools like Virginia and Virginia Tech.
It's not just about "this team is competitive more often than this team." It's also about history and tradition.

In the past 20 years:
They ruined CUSA and the Sun Belt.
They ruined the Big East.
They ruined the XII.
They ruined the PAC.
...and now they are going to ruin the ACC.
We are running out of conferences to destroy, folks.

Hasn’t won shite in 35 years. Talk about a decaying program. All they have left is a name. That’s it. It’s not 1966 or 1977 anymore. They have failed to get with the times.

If your conference was gonna stay the same the past 20 years, that means you didn’t have any relevant teams and you didn’t add any

This is all setting up for the top 75 teams or so to be in 2 or 3 giant conferences.
They will then have enough leverage to ALL leave the NCAA and create their own self-governance agreement.
Then, to decrease travel and conference sizes, they'll split up into regional divisions.
You'll inevitably have an NFL style pool of teams split into regional divisions with division winners and wild cards getting into a playoff, etc.
It may take another 5 to 10 years, but its coming.

Its a brand
Geographic areas dont really matter. You want brands.
FSU is the #2 brand nationally behind ND that's not in the B10 or SEC. I'd be cautious about adding Clemson. Let's see how much of a brand they are if they continue their post 2020 downward trend.

Hate for them to do all of this and somehow end up in the Big 12
If the B10 ends up taking Miami instead since they're AAU...

There's no need for that. Add FSU + Clemson + NC St + VT to the East and move Mizzou + Vandy to the West. A 9 game schedule would suffice.

These school will not be joining the SEC. Sorry to burst your bubble…ZERO chance they take LESS money to joint the SEC over the B1G.

We want FSU and Clemson fr fr
I don't really want UNC and UVA but I'd allow it just as an FU to the Big 10

SEC takes North Carolina, Duke, Georgia Tech and Miami.
Let Florida State go to the Big12 or American Athletic.

You should read my post again. I said nothing about UNC and UVA.

The Big 10 going to start handing out immediate full memberships then?

if the SEC expands, literally none of those schools will go to the SEC. B1G is most likely for all except for GT who nobody really wants.

God I hope they get destroyed both on and off field.
In retrospect, I am glad Bama punked them. Sorry Bama fans for sticking up for FSU this past month.
