Clemson FSU and UNC are the assets the SEC would want. The other 11 schools would not make for a stronger conference

Don't particularly like people saying FSU is leaving because of the snub. They were already talking of leaving the ACC and if anything some think they were snubbed because of it.
The main reason I don't like it is because it attempts to exonerate the awful and unprecedented action by the committee.

Which also had an ACC flare to it. See Chairman.

With 12 teams coming to a football field near you soon, why would you want to leave such an easy entry into the Playoff? The ACC just ain't that hard, the SEC, is a death march. The Pac-12 just gave up an automatic bid and an easier path to join a dogfight in the B1G. Same with Texas and Oklahoma. They had almost a bye into the playoff every year compared to where they are standing.

Soon, many teams will be like Arkansas, wishing for the ole Southwest days.

FSU had the chance to join the SEC decades ago and declined largely because they estimated that their NC chances would be increased if they remained in the ACC.

That calculation has backfired this season.

Death march to win the SEC? Sure. But if the 12-team playoff started this year the SEC would've gotten 5 teams in. If they're afraid of coming in 6th then they belong right where they are

And since the SEC and Big 10 will be taking all of the at-large spots going forward, they'd need to win the conference every year if they want in. And then when they do get to the playoff, every time they'd be the least battle-tested team by far

With the ACC Grant of Rights, FSU is going to need a better lawyer than the one currently doing all the talking.

Fla St, North Carolina, Duke and Virginia…NONE of those schools are taking LESS money to join the SEC over the B1G. I know y’all don’t want to hear it or believe it…but It’s that simple. The next big wave of realignment will be ACC schools to the B1G. It’s simple math and exposure the B1G has more money and exposure than anybody else moving forward. B1G being on FOX, CBS and NBC with stacks of cash.

People need to stop with this. You can’t just take the final rankings and say, “well if this were next year 5 of these would be SEC.”

That assumes that UT would be 11-1 playing a full SEC slate. It also assumes that the committee would allow for 5 SEC teams. We know they manipulated the rankings as is.

Not an undefeated Power 5

And not because of an injury

Hence why it’s complete horse shite

If they end up with a 48-64 new super division, they should just get rid of conferences altogether.

Do it like the English soccer league and relegate the worst teams to FBS.

[Auerbach] Florida State Trustee Justin Roth called for FSU to make and execute an exit plan to get out of the ACC by August 2024.

I'm not even sure about that. I think the SEC will stay at 16 for a while.

FSU still hasn't answered where the $120 million to leave is coming from.

Until that happens all of this is talk.

Not really. They wouldn’t be 12-0 in the SEC.

Notre Dame needs the ACC to survive. They will make it happen. If FSU leaves I bet it won’t be to the SEC.

Dellenger update.
With FSU Board approval, legal experts believe that the school will seek a "declaratory judgement action" in an effort to have a judge rule that it is not bound by the ACC's Grant-of-Rights.

Such a ruling could open the door for more programs to exit

Im not sure why they wouldn't be bound since they signed a contract. But hey good luck I guess.

They'll argue that circumstances have materially changed - happens all the time in the corporate world (with varying levels of success).

Honestly, what does the ACC have to lose by merging with the Big 12? The first official super conference, and will have legit brands within it.

They’ve won three national titles since then and played in four more NC games plus the inaugural CFP. I’d say they were correct.
