Yea there is no argument that can be made that Kobe is a top 5-7 NBA player. He's fringe top 10, which is still incredible.

Kobe did it on both ends of the court for a long time. 11x All NBA 1st team. 9x All-Defense 1st team. 5x Champion, 2x Finals MVP, 1 MVP.

There’s your argument. You can disagree with the argument, but there is an argument. Because no one else in the games history other than MJ can match that.

In my opinion it’s
1. MJ
2. LeBron
3. Kobe

I’ve felt this was since before his passing.

Are you trying to say that no one can match those types of achievements? Kareem:

15x all-NBA, 11x all- defense, 2x finals MVP, 19x all-star. They are essentially a wash there. But o yea, 6x champion, ROY, SIX time MVP. There is nothing Kobe did that can make up for the five more MVP's and extra championship that Kareem has on him.

Which is laughable. You cannot make fun of some dude on TD saying he doesn't know shite because he hasn't played if he has Kobe not in the top 5-10. Having Kobe in the top 3 is a much much much hotter (seemingly less intelligent/knowledgeable) take than Having Kobe outside of the top 10.

Nothing from the media is any good these days. I think it was Rolling Stone that recently put out a list of the top guitarists of all time and they got roasted, it was a terrible list. No one gets a job in media these days because of their expertise in a particular area to write about.

I mean it's top 100 list. No one can make one that everyone agrees on. The whole point of it is to fill the slow summer months with some content. If people find it disagreeable they did their job well.

Yes. No one but MJ has ALL of those collective accolades.

Kareem

Does NOT match what I posted about Kobe which was his all 1st Team selections.

Again you are welcome to get mad about the argument and disagree with it. Regardless, Kareem is in my top 5. Pretty good company to keep.

I realize I have him higher than most. I understand arguments he isn’t top 3. Sorry, it’s laughable to put him outside the top 10. Much more so than putting him at 3.

JJ wasn’t winning any more championships.

Only because NASCAR changed the format. He won his last Cup in 2016 and walked away in 2020.

Maya Moore and Mikaela Shiffrin (some random lady no one's ever heard of) ahead of David Ortiz, Derek Jeter, JJ Watt, Ray Lewis and Pedro Martinez.

Yeah, ok. Sure, Jan.

Micheal Phelps should be 1.

I disagree.

Phelps doesn't even hold an individual world record anymore, and he was never the fastest pure swimmer in a sprint. His strength was versatility in a sport that provides an inflated number of Olympic medal opportunities due to a bunch of different strokes, distances, medleys, and relays.

I like Phelps. He seems to have been a very hard worker. I just don't think the depth of competition in swimming is what it is in other sports because it is highly specialized and there's little incentive for talented athletes who can excel in popular sports with more visibility and opportunities to give the pool a serious try - if there's even a team or program around to facilitate the effort.

Ed Reed did.

What clown put those 2 on there?

There’s a legit argument to be made that Ed Reed is possibly the best safety of all time, and maybe even best all around defensive back. So yeah…one of the Top 100 athletes of the 21st Century.

#7 Simone Biles
#8 Tiger Woods

No further commentary needed but I will give you some anyway.

Rory McIroy with four major titles is ranked. Brooks Koepka with five major titles is not.

My thoughts:
1. Usain Boldt is ranked to low. Still holds the 100 (9.58 is SICK) and 200
record. Only person to win 100/200 in three straight Olympics.
2. Kobe ranked to high/ Mike Trout to low
3. No Chipper Jones on the list??
4. Ashton Eaton won consecutive Olympic Decathlon titles in 2012 and 2016.
He should be somewhere on that list.

This list gave ESPN the two things it needs most this time of the year: Something to talk about and something to drive clicks/viewership. I don’t need to see it nor do I care to.

Hard to believe Tiger isn’t top 5.

66 PGA Tour wins and 13 major championships in the 2000’s.

Best 90-100 every win and no on to carry him in of days. I like Phelps but he needed a stud performance. By Lezak chasing down Alain Bernard (Wr Holder) to make his 8 medal history
