Great write-up on why and how ESPN will slowly die and become the Blockbuster Video of sports news/entertainment.

No, ESPN isn't blockbuster. ESPN is failing bc they've gotten all pc and politics bs. ESPN can fit right in with how technology has changed the world where Blockbuster couldn't do much.

ESPN chose to go all in with attempting to force feed radically left politics down the public's throat.

Let them burn.

ESPN talks way too much.

Fox Sports thought they had a chance to usurp ESPN but their production value and on air talent is just as polarizing

Formula for a successful sports channel

1. Live sports ppl want to watch
2. Highlights with the occasional play breakdowns by coaches or former players
3. A good sports magazine show providing background to stories americans want to learn more about.
4. On Demand sporting events that are more regional than national via streaming

ESPN is dying because they went the way of TLC. TLC used to be The Learning Station and played educational shite. Now they play reality shows.

ESPN used to play sports and replays. Now they talk about bullshite tweets and news I don't care about. I'd rather watch AA Cricket in India than listen to what some cheesedick has to say about the latest fabricated off-field drama.

Exactly. I watch sports to get away from the political talk. It's entertainment. If I wanted that shite I'd just watch CNN or Fox.

I'd say they are going more the MTV direction. Remember when MTV had music?

The radio side of ESPN and Fox Sports have also gotten progressively worse with the politically correct/social justice mess.

The ESPN ballon got huge and now its about to come back down to earth. Also coming back down to earth will be the tv deals with the leagues. The leagues and espn both need each other. ESPN will have to change the way it does a lot of stuff but it isn't going away.

Also if it went away what would Clay Travis have to talk about the time.

I don't think they are Blockbuster. I think they are MTV. MTV couldn't adapt to the way people consumed music so they gradually cut their music programing in favor of cheap content.

I think ESPN is about to start shedding live sports programming by non-renewing their contracts as they come up. Eventually it will be all day sports and social commentary. Those studio shows are cheap compared to the broadcast rights for live sports.
