Yeah, but he's suing over it, so there's that...
If its enough for him to sue, then he feels that he was scammed in some way, and more than likely has some documentation to back up his assertion. Such as false appraisals.
Whether he was or not is a different story.

Absolutely. If the appraiser, the financial advisor and the seller all work in cahoots to screw you then you might have a complaint that you were scammed. If the appraiser, the financial advisor and the seller are all the same person then you’re an idiot.

What if the seller and Brees signed a buy back agreement that the seller is not honoring?

Well that's an awfully naive statement

From the sellers attorney?
You think the entirety of this story is based solely on the quotes of the seller's attorney?

Not really. Someone like Brees wouldn't make this public and an attorney would advise him not to pursue if he didn't have at least a decent case.
We will see in discovery, but Brees almost certainly would not have filed suit and opened himself up to depositions and discovery and publicity without some leg to stand on.

Agreed. Brees is the starting QB for a NFL team. No way his attorney would want Breesus image hurt by letting people know he is broke.

You mean like smart and/or rich people do literally all the time?

Is it fraud to over-charge someone for a diamond ring? I mean if you got a bad deal you got a bad deal. If I buy stocks as an investment and the go down in value have I been defrauded?

They generally do not do this when the other side also has a high priced attorney. They may get one to crush a little guy.
Looking through some more of this, it appears that the Jeweler and Brees became fairly decent friends and invited each other to holiday events and family gatherings.
My guess is there is more to the story than meets the eye.

Generally speaking, no, unless they provide a fake appraisal.

TBH between this and his advocare endorsement I don't really think Brees is the sharpest tool in the shed.
He's great on the field, but I'm not really shocked he got suckered like this.

So he invested in a moronic business model, lost a fortune and now he is suing? Clearly, he is banking on his fame and thinks that will somehow rescue him from his stupidity. Sad thing is that if there is a civil trial in New Orleans he just might win.

They do it literally daily and it's a big pissing match between rich people and their rich lawyers.

a fake appraisal.
Which is why you get a third party non hairy Armenian to appraise it for you as well

Why would there be a civil trial in New Orleans based on a lawsuit filed in San Diego?
