Prime Larry Holmes against Tyson so the fanboys would see what a much bigger man with a devastating jab would do to Iron Mike.

when he was "focused" he was a legit top 10 heavyweight

As usual most of the anti-Tyson comments are from people who didn’t see him fight until the mid to late 90s and have no clue what they’re talking about. But since he’s in so many matchups I’ll go Lennox vs Ali. Probably the two smartest, technically sound big heavyweights. Lennox’s jaw was always in question but he could also do a lot of damage really fast and Ali sometimes took too many hits. I think their weaknesses and styles make for an on the edge, high tension super fight.

Would have loved to see Prime Tyson against Prime Holyfield. I think after prison Mike was a different boxer. Honestly Tyson vs Foreman would have been good as well.

An interesting fight would have been a disciplined and healthy Tommy Morrison, with a great boxing management team vs Tyson. I think I would still pick Tyson but Morrison in his prime was a devastating puncher.

Tyson was small for a heavyweight, and had problems with guys who weren't scared of him. A lot of guys he fought were beaten before the introductions

Liston when he wasn’t on the take vs. Deontay Wilder.

Not really small for the era he came up in. Tyson was fast, powerful with all punches, busy and had a great chin. He was about as good as it gets before he became nationally visible. The problem is people who never saw him in his prime just comment on his post prime career when he was a completely different boxer from every technical aspect down to not even having a proper boxing stance.

Which one because Lewis beat Vitali when he was past his prime.

How about you just lay out your application form for legit heavyweight champs and we’ll see how many on the alltime list make the cut.

In his prime, Tyson fought one great fighter, but that was a pumped up light heavyweight.

George Foreman and Larry Holmes were literally born the same year and never came close to fighting

Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick both beat Ali. Holmes had the 3rd longest reign as world champ ever but he was “old” so it doesn’t count. Marciano beat an old Lewis that’s it but it’s never held against him in this way. Fury beat an old Klitschko but it’s not held against him. There are plenty of other all timers who’s names were made off of beating old champs but it isn’t held against them, Holmes included. Again only Tyson is criticized using this double standard and it’s overwhelmingly by people who didn’t witness his career.

Ok, which "old" great fighters did Tyson fight during his prime? And define his prime, so we're on the same page.

Both answered already. Again your opinion is totally media coverage based. If you had followed the sport in real time you’d understand the hype for those fights and remember them the way you do with “big fights” you’ve witnessed but instead you hold a Fury vs Wilder and fights like it to equal or higher status. This effects your ability to correctly evaluate the fights and the fighters.

Someone said Tysons prime was 86-89. Do you agree?
