Does the loser of #1 Ohio State vs #2 Indiana still get a Top 4 Seed & a Bye ?

They should.
They are the only undefeated teams in the country and are ranked #1 #2.
It's not their fault that the 2 best teams in the country happen to be in the same conference.
It would be moronic for the loser to drop to #5 behind teams that have losses and are sitting st home today because they weren't even good enough to qualify for their conference title game

The only way I see the looser not getting a top 4 spot is if it is a total blow out.

Ohio State’s not getting blown out by anyone so they’re in
Even if Indiana loses by 20-30, they have the strongest claim. They beat #5 Oregon at Autzen by 10. That should settle it. You aren’t moving #6 OM / #7 A&M / #8 Oklahoma above Oregon with all 4 teams idle, and #9 Bama can’t jump into the top 4 with that FSU loss

I think it should be
#1 Big Ten Winner
#2 SEC Winner
#3 SEC Loser/ Tech
#4 Big Ten Loser/ Tech
#5 Oregon/Tech
#1 Big Ten Winner
#2 SEC Winner
#3 SEC Loser/ Tech
#4 Big Ten Loser/ Tech
#5 Oregon/Tech

I do not understand how people can say Alabama should get a bye if they win today.
I haven’t put a ton of thought into it, but that sounds ridiculous.
Why would they get a bye?
The loser of the Big 10 Championship should still get a bye, I think.

Because they won’t want a semifinal that is a rematch of OSU-Indiana, I think they will make the loser the 3 seed and keep Tech as the four as long as UGA wins.
Otherwise Tech becomes the 2 seed and Bama becomes the 4.
Thoughts?

99% chance the loser gets a bye. 100% if it is IU because of head to head against Oregon. Only scenario I can see where it doesn’t happen is IU blowout win, Texas Tech blowout win, and UGA overtime loss.
In that scenario IU is 1, Tech is 2, and Bama is probably the 3 (SEC champion with 3 wins against playoff teams). the last slot is either OSU, UGA, or Oregon. OSU’s only ranked win is #13 Texas in week 1. Oregon would have a closer loss to IU and a win agains #16 USC. UGA would have a win against #6 ole miss and a blowout win against the same #13 Texas team that played OSU close. And only 2 close losses to the #3 team. I could see UGA getting the 4 seed in that scenario, but pretty unlikely.

People like to think in a vacuum. Yeah if we're just focused on Bama, it makes sense that people think they wouldn't get one.
But then you have to come up with 4 teams. Ohio St, Indiana, Tech and another team.
So now you're deciding between Oregon and Bama. At that point the SOS and "3 big ten teams get a BYE" optics would favor Bama.

If Indiana loses they will have beat 1 ranked team.
Their out of conference schedule was Old Dominion Kennesaw State, and Indiana State.
Putting them in the playoff, much less giving them a top 4 seed is what is wrong with college football.

If either team sandbags today, it arguably wouldn’t even be a rematch. It would be their first game

Punishing undefeated teams in a 1 vs 2 game in favor of teams with losses that are sitting at home today is pure idiocy.
So your logic is that undefeated Indiana should drop from #2 to #13 and not make the playoffs because they lost to #1 Ohio State ?

If Tech and UGA win that’s exactly how it will be.

Sure they won’t but I think long term they will want SEC vs Big Ten for title game! In truth I just want an SEC team on the 4 or 5 line! Lol.

Yeah same that would be an insane jump
Big 10 Winner
UGA if they win
Texas tech if they win
Big 10 loser
It gets interesting if TT and UGA loses...could have 3 big 10s
Big 10 winner
Oregon?
Big 10 loser?
Ole Miss?

If Bama beats UGA they are no lower than 5.

Are you going to put Indiana behind Oregon who they beat and have a better overall record then?
Both would have 12-1 records if either lost, which is better than Oregon (11-1), Ole Piss (11-1) and A&M (11-1).
Both tOSU and IU are set as top 4 teams and a bye. The only thing that is being decided is which one is the #1 seed.

Bama should be out if they lose. Stop with the vacuum crap. They'd have no one to blame but themselves for losing to a 5-7 FSU team that had 4 FBS wins.
