I think thats why bama got rolled. They were beat up and indiana was fresher

Off topic, but lmao no. They got rolled because IU was the best team in the country and Bama didn’t belong in the playoff.

Yeah, nfl players are notoriously always professional and WR/TEs have no history at all of causing chemistry issues when they don’t like a particular roster move

Maybe this works out fine, but if Green sees fewer targets I think it’s optimistic to assume he just takes it in stride. Especially since he still has to care about draft stock.
Is the buyout changing at all?

This is honestly meaningless unless the buyout number goes up dramatically. 2 year extension but the buyout stays the same is just PR to make everyone look good before the season starts.
Sark is a better CEO. Kiffin is better at scheme/play calling

SEC Preseason Superlatives

Posted by Dixie.Reb on 8/15/26 at 12:25 pm
Only 1 more Saturday left without college football, so let’s sneak in one last preseason thread. Not a rankings list, just a best/most likely yearbook style superlatives list. In no particular order:

Best Coaching Matchup
Sark vs Kiffin. Kirby is the undisputed best coach from the Saban tree, but these are the two best offensive minds to graduate from Saban’s school for wayward coaches. Both should have diabolical game plans cooked up and QBs who know how to execute, but they also have the defenses to counter anything thrown at them. Will be must watch TV

Best first year coach matchup
Golesh vs Sumrall. Two of the hottest coaching candidates (non Kiffin division) stepping into roles with tons of talent on their side of the ball. Winner is set up for a potential 8+ win season which would go a long way with both fan bases

Best QB matchup
Arch vs Trinidad. Probably the most hyped SEC QB matchup since 2019. Consensus #1 pick vs the only QB to make the playoffs in D2 and D1 (also finished top 10 in heisman votes a year after being a finalist for the D2 harlon hill trophy) Assuming both teams come in undefeated, this will be a marquee game day matchup even without accounting for the Manning family angle.

Most likely to combine for 90+ points
Auburn vs Ole Miss. I really liked Byrum Brown at USF, and even with an improving ole miss defense, I could see him lighting up the scoreboard. Golesh is an offensive minded coach, so I could also see them getting gashed by Chambliss and Lacy. Feels like a last one with the ball wins situation.

Most likely to combine for < 30 point
OU vs UF. 8th sp+ defense vs 12th sp+ defense. Last time we saw John Mateer, he was almost getting shut out in the second half by Bama. UF had a lot of problems last year but defense wasn’t one of them. Combine that with a defensive head coach and a new QB and you have a stoppable forces meet immovable objects.

Most likely to go 9-0
No one. But if it does happen, maybe Texas? Avoids UGA/Bama, gets OU in Dallas and Ole Miss at home. Toughest games will be LSU and A&M on the road. Again, don’t think it happens, but if Arch plays like he did in the bowl game all year I could see it.

Most likely to go 0-fer
South Carolina. Arkansas is the easy pick, but I think they snag at least one of Vandy, Mizzou, and SCar. Losing every 1 score game 2 years in a row seems unlikely. Meanwhile South Carolina faces a rising MSU and plays UK right after Bama. By the time they get to Arkansas they might be in full tank mode with an interim.

Newcomer(s) of the year
Leavitt will be a popular pick given Lane’s status as a QB whisperer. Already mentioned that I like Byrum Brown at Auburn as well. And if UT or Vandy freshman QBs like up to recruiting rankings they will be in the running. But I’m putting my money on the Texas RB transfers Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers. They will have lots of opportunities if Arch makes defenses respect the pass and both lit it up last year at P4 programs. One or both will be in the heisman conversation late in the year.

Which ones am I leaving out?
Worse than ole miss fans hope, better than LSU fans think.

Whatever coach said that is an idiot. He took too much contact, that’s why he got hurt. Definitely a gamer, just has to learn to make better reads and know when to give up on a play.

Tbf, after 1 drive of Buchanan I see why he would think that
It depends: did he learn how to read a defense or do you have an offense where he doesn’t have to?

He has an incredible arm, lacks touch, and throws 1-2 picks a game. Will probably win 1-2 games for you but might lose 1-2 games too.

Louisville scares the shite out of me. Really good defense (led by the defensive line) and one of the top 5 RBs in college football. Though one big thing in our favor is the Louisville QB just transfered in and will be making his first career start. As long as we make him feel uncomfortable we should be fine.

Was just about to type this out word for word. We will find out quickly if our linebackers are better than last year. Can’t let the QB get comfortable. If louisvillle scores 21 or less, I feel good.

Remember when he wrote a letter to students in the Daily Mississippian about being the best QB?
Don’t we have the prediction thread for this?

In all seriousness, we went 5-1 in one score games a year after going 0-3. We could be just as good as last year, and close game regression could have us as low as 8-4. If the offense takes a step back without kiffin, 7-5 is unlikely but on the table. We also had really good injury luck outside of Lacy getting hurt towards the end of the year. Any injury on the O Line/D line or to Chambliss/Lacy and even 6-6 is possible.

That’s all before you account for the extra SEC game which theoretically costs you at least half a win compared to cupcake non-con.

Expecting a better defense, but need to see WR step up before I believe in the offense. We had 3 legit WR 1 last year plus Watkins who was a hell of a freshman.

TL;DR best guess is 8-4/9-3. Wouldn’t be shocked by 7-5 or 10-2. Anything better or worse means we got lucky or unlucky (or Pete sucks)
1) sugar bowl rings have been a thing for SEC teams for forever. We made them in 2015 too.

2) lol, remember those 2011 #2 rings? LOLSU

Those unis vs the LSU whites (but non-white helmet) is top-5 period.

USC vs ND
USC vs UCLA
UGA home vs UF white
OSU v UM
This is the NCAAs fault for announcing their 5 to play 5 rule when they did and not making it retroactive. Why should a 2026 senior get a 5th year in 2027 but a 2025 senior doesn’t get one in 2026?

If this is announced in February he probably never enters the draft. Classic NCAA being their own worst enemy.

This is completely different than the pavia/Chambliss extra eligibility lawsuits. All these issues will resolve themselves by next year regardless. Because no one else is being denied the 5th year option.

No one is saying players shouldn’t get paid, and there have always been VIP opps for rich boosters.

But it would be so easy for the school to include a free meet the fans experience in the rev share contracts. That’s how you build the fan base of the future; the kids that show up to free events today are the boosters in 30 years and it’s weird that LSU is trying to squeeze out pennies now instead of thinking long term.

lol, ChatGPT wrong again. meet the Rebs was back in April and it was free unlike this.

Admission will be free for the event, which is tentatively set to begin at 9:30 a.m. In addition to player autographs, fans will hear from head coach Pete Golding and other Ole Miss coaches during a Q&A program
I posted a link from an email that went out today so I’m not sure why you would need to ask ChatGPT. Unless you think I built that website myself as part of an elaborate troll
