Do you think McVay will give up his HC position for Raheem Morris?

“It’s a reflection of how far we have to go, because he’s one of the best coaches in the world, and the fact that he isn’t a head coach is a crime,” McVay said, via Greg Beacham of the Associated Press.

It’s a strong statement from McVay. It oozes with hyperbole; McVay surely doesn’t believe a criminal act occurred. However, at a time when three coaches and counting have sued the NFL over a longstanding pattern of racial bias in the hiring of head coaches, it’s not the kind of quote that is going to make the folks who are defending against the claims feel warm and fuzzy.

In that case, good. They shouldn’t. They need to be made to feel uncomfortable. And it’s not easy to impose discomfort on someone who is cruising around in a superyacht.

Such a hypocritical stance to be in one of the 32 seats at the table yet throw stones at the process determining who's not at the table when McVay was an unproven coordinator being one of the youngest ever to get hired straight to a position where others take years to get to.

Morris has been a head coach. He took over the Bucs after Gruden. They were a solid team at that point - not great but solid. They were trash under Morris.

I mean, the NFL hires retreads but generally they've at least had success somewhere as a HC.

McVay rose so quickly only because PawPaw was an NFL coach and team VP.

THAT is the issue that needs to be addressed.

The real world isn't real anymore. Half of these guys had a shot and were a complete disaster but these people act like it never happened.

Morris got the Bucs head job at 31 years old. He was given a MASSIVE opportunity and he blew it.

He got a bit unlucky in 2010. He had a good team that went 10-6 but 10-6 was not good enough to get in the NFC playoffs that year.

Morris was a bad HC the first time round plus he is a defensive guy in a league that values offensive gurus. That is the real reason for his lack of more HC jobs

Josh McDaniels isn’t much better. But he’s been hired for a HC job twice since he failed his first time.

Morris was also an interim with the Falcons, if memory serves.

Why? It's common practice in all career fields for a son to follow the father into the chosen profession. It's a traditional thing, even with the little bit of nepotism involved. Morris was a head coach, and sucked at it. If McVay feels that strongly about it, he should step down and let Morris take his job. Anything less than that is just words, uttered to signal his own virtue without actually putting some skin in the game.

exactly. its so stupid....like teams are just sitting around thinking.....well Raheem morris would make us a SB contender....but cant hire him...he is black.

yea im sure NFL owners are all about losing 10s of millions by not hiring someone because they have the wrong skin color.

gtfo with that shite.
