Do it like rugby and make them kick it at the angle they crossed the goal line.

At least that could be entertaining. Otherwise like another poster said it’s just a celebratory thing.

Another way to make it trickier is the extra point unit has to be the same group that scored the touchdown.

2 yard line, rugby rules. That tight angle is more challenging than distance.

I love the idea but how do you successfully line up when a TD is scored at the pylon?

One poster above said use the hash marks and I’m fine with that, but all licks are back from old distance.

Not completely opposed to this, but what would you do in the case of a back of the Endzone fade? Not all touchdowns are rushes crossing the goal line like in rugby.

1) Put a top crossbar in place - ball has to go in the rectangle

2) Points earned based on distance

Out to 30 yards - 1 pt
31-40 yards - 2 pts
41-50 yards - 3 pts
51-60 yards - 4 pts
61+ yards - 5 pts

3) On extra points, you can choose distance and placement.

4) Double points if you hit the crossbars or uprights, but you have to call it. If called and you don't hit it, one point is deducted from points on kick.

That’s actually pretty cool, it would absolutely make it more difficult. NFL posts are tall AF, but it’s still a good idea. In high school it would be tough on those short posts.

My son made 49 yarders from both directions last Friday, and the one into the wind may have missed over the bar had it been there. With the wind it kind of pushed it down. The refs under the goal wouldn’t be able to tell if it did make the box though.

Put a second set of markers at the two yard line wider out than the current hash marks, say halfway to the sidelines from the current marker. Cross the goal line outside that point and the ball gets brought into that point.

It's an automatic 3 points when a team gets to the 40 yard line unless it's pouring down rain or freezing cold.

What’s the problem here?
You get in the red zone you should get at least 3 points.
You want to try for 50+ yard FG, you might not make them. Two were missed last night.
SF punted from the opponents 41 instead of attempting a 58 yarder.

There’s nothing wrong with how the FG and XP system works.

Endzone was scored outside the hash, kick it from the hash mark from the 3 yard line.

That’s nuts. You see Cam’s 56 this Saturday?

Because TD posters are the new hipsters where everything retro and nostalgic is better even when it was something that presented no challenge at all.

I say move it back another 5 yards.

Then the angle is impossible, just how it is

Making kicks from the intersection of the goal and side lines is not impossible…all kickers grow up doing this drill.

No hash marks for kickers could be a real thing. It would a replay though, because they’ve already spotted the ball inside the hashes before you decide on a FG.

yes, extra points should be mandated as 60 yard plus extra points if not more

It's back far enough, you don't need to go back any further. Kickers are missing from that disstance, but hell, if you wanna do away with it and just go for 2 all of the time, then by all means go for it.

Yep. Do people really want games decided by a stupid missed extra point? I'd rather they just give them the point, retaining the right to go for two.

I could certainly do without them.

How do you like watching two teams slug it out for 59 minutes, and whether your team wins or loses all comes down to a 165 lb guy being able to kick a ball between two posts ? Some of those LSU/Arkansas games come to mind.

No because it doesn't have a point besides trying to manufacture drama. As dumb as making teams have to get 15 yards for a 1st down or the leading team's defense only gets 10 defenders after the final 2 min warning.
