Do they need to move the extra point further back again?

According to my calculations, NFL kickers are 326 of 332 (98.1%) on extra points this year. No kicker has missed more than one. It seems like the kickers have adjusted and it’s pretty much automatic again, these are the rates they were making them from the 2 yard line.

No. Making it more difficult was kinda dumb anyway.

I wish they'd stop changing things, so no thanks.

I’ve always regarded the extra point as more celebratory and pomp and circumstance. Leave it alone.

If you move it back, teams will just start going for two after every touchdown.

Do it like rugby and make them kick it at the angle they crossed the goal line.

At least that could be entertaining. Otherwise like another poster said it’s just a celebratory thing.

All PAT’s should be like this.

They should just give them 1 pt or let them attempt 2.

Yeah, they should move the xp back to 55 yards and move the 2 point Conversions back to the 10 yard line.

They should add weights to the footballs on the inside so they rotate unpredictably.

Just have 3 players each team on 1 pointers. They likely miss more due to not having so many players around. Or just send the hiker/holder/kicker out with no opposing players.

that would make it hard enough and interesting enough to satisfy OP.

Never thought of that but that makes awesome sense tbh. Kickers struggle way more than you realize with those tight angles of FGs from the 2 yard line. At least theyd make less than 98-99% of their kicks like they’re doing now and could possibly make it interesting on TDs scored based on weather conditions. Still would have to keep kicks between hashes or else angles become impossible but might see in games a player run across field before scoring a wide open TD to set up kicker where he wants it

The NFL needs to raise the crossbar. Field goals have gotten too easy in general. It's an automatic 3 points when a team gets to the 40 yard line unless it's pouring down rain or freezing cold.

I think that’s the point.

Sounds like a player safety issue… dudes are gonna take massive hits running sideways across the field

2 yard line, rugby rules. That tight angle is more challenging than distance.

They should eliminate placekicks altogether. Go for two after a td, and either go for it or punt on fourth down. Field goals and extra points are just too easy. It’s not like when a regular player used to try the kicks.

I’m sure the players union would be okay with eliminating jobs.
