Do the women accusing DeShaun Watson have a strong case if it goes to trial?

I feel like they don’t…every accusation I’ve read about has multiple appointments involved…if his actions were so bad, why would they schedule a second or even 3rd appointment?
They will probably settle at some point but I believe he will win in court…
Of course, he will lose big time in the court of public opinion…

So the bar for a grand jury indictment is pretty freaking low. And for 2 GJ’s not to proceed with charges, it seems pretty likely he wouldn’t be charged.

Now civil suits however are a different story. Will be tough for the women to claim damages to their reps seeing as he hasn’t been charged.

For the record, I was completely wrong. I swore up and down that he would be charged I’m still amazed he wasn’t.

Probable cause is an even lower burden than preponderance of the evidence in a civil suit. If they couldn’t even get to probable cause to substantiate a criminal charge, it would be very difficult to prevail in a civil suit. Had he been charged and acquitted, sure.

But he’ll probably settle to get it over with and mitigate any risk, so we’ll likely never find out.

Im not sure. I think the Depp/Heard trial is gonna make people think a little differently about these kinda things. Yes, its a lot more women than just the 1, but it seems like everybody knows their lawyer is a fricking scumbag. Now, doesn’t mean Goodell won’t oblige his apparent fetish with an appendage in his arse.

Not like I care about the Browns, but as a team that got fricked by Go Odell’s completely arbitrary punishments, he kinda needs to make up his mind what he’s gonna do with Watson. They’re over the cap with a former overall #1 QB on his final year that they can’t move because he refuses to play and they have no leverage. I don’t feel sorry for them for giving up what they did and giving him that contract not knowing what was gonna happen to him, but at some point, shite, Roger, let them do what they’ve got to do.

I wouldn't if I was him. Like you said if he really did all of this why did these women agree to multiple appointments?

I don't agree with this. He already won in the criminal case. With so many accusations and the court of media and public opinion they still couldn't find enough to bring it to a trial. If his lawyers present it right he can turn the court of public opinion also.

Hard to prove sexual assault if it was easy the 10+ women who accused Trump would have been successful

That’s not true. A shite ton of people are watching it.

Now you could say a lot of people don’t know it’s happening. But those people are probably not on social media and “public opinion” that you hear about is all people on social media. People think Twitter = everyone

He essentially just asked if someone wanted to jerk him off or rub his a-hole. He never grabbed any of these girls or backed them into a corner and intimidated them (at least from what I’ve read so might be wrong)

Like you said they also kept providing him with appointments

Sexual assault is one of the hardest cases to prosecute because it's essentially a he said/she said game. You need a strong witness who saw it all happen as well as direct, physical evidence to get a criminal conviction.

As long as none of them have washed the DNA off their stinky pinky, they should be good.

They need physical evidence if you know what I mean.

Rub his a-hole. Lol Man, life is a trip n a half. Smh But he should have just gone the route of high-classed or priced escorts, he wouldn't have these issues right now.

Is it really a he said/she said thing in this case? I thought the main issue here was that the accounts they gave didn't really amount to sexual assault. Asking a question, getting turned down, and saying "OK, sorry," doesn't amount to assault. If nothing non-consensual happened, then there was no assault.

Buzbee just figured he could shame Watson into settling, and then had to go forward making more threats.

Idk. If you ask such a crude question in a non sexual setting, in 2022, it might be assault, especially if you’re known to have millions of dollars.
