Jackson to Boulder, what an upgrade in life

Climate wise a huge upgrade and culturally it has its own challenges. He'll see a lot more rainbow flags with brown triangles.

What he did for HBCUs is a good thing, but why does it have to be a negative if he leaves for a better opportunity. Jackson State sure has benefited very well from him being there...

At least someone on this site has some sense.

If characters like Les Miles and Ed Orgeron can win national championships at LSU….I have absolutely no doubt that Prime Time can do just fine at Colorado.

If you think about it, Colorado isn’t a bad place to start his coaching career in P5 football. Colorado has been bad for the last 20-30 years so expectations in Boulder are relatively low. However, Colorado has not been historically bad always. Bill McCartney had some good teams in the 80s and 90s and Colorado won the National Championship in 1990.

Also, very soon the PAC 12 will lose 2 of their top teams, USC and UCLA, to the Big 10. If I were a new coach to the P5, I would rather start off and get my feet wet in a conference like the PAC 12 than the SEC.

I'll withhold judgment on this until he explains why he's leaving.

They didn't even have fresh water in Jackson this year - hard to blame him for leaving a place like that.

I want to see him actually break down a play or give real football instruction to his team.

The only thing I've seen Deion do is hand out life lessons and discipline.

And just like that……puffff.

The HBCU experiment is over and back to the shadows they go…

Which is a shame in some respects

As a CU alum I say fuuuuck yeah.

But talk about polar opposites going from Jackson to Boulder. If you see a black guy on campus he's either on the football or basketball team. The CU black student population is under 3%. I grew up in Alabama in the 1970s and 1980s and by far the most racist incident I've ever witnessed happened at a college party in the early 90s in Boulder when a black guy danced with a white girl.

We didn't. We really didn't. That title never felt right, the Lakers Mickey Mouse ring was 100x more legit.

I wonder if he turned down playing in the FCS Playoffs - because he was nervous if he won in Round 1 or 2, he wouldn't be able to split as fast.
Sanders has already stated that the FCS playoffs were unimportant to him & the SWAC has already proved that they don't really need them( 4 or 5 single SWAC games the past 2 weeks outdrew every round of the FCS playoffs combined).

Jay Hopson & perhaps Sanders got FBS jobs ( one a P5) despite the fact that they played in no FCS playoff game. FCS playoffs aren't as important as you all believe.

I thought the SWAC/MEAC winner doesn't play in the playoffs but instead plays in the celebration bowl?

Might be wrong on this though

SWAC schools are free to do whatever they want, and I get the financial advantage of the celebration bowl, but I find it strange that they are included in the FCS rankings when they have no intention of competing against other FCS teams. Same with the Ivy League.

Or why are those conferences included in the FCS at all?

That's a nice cover, considering most schools could argue that they "don't need" the playoffs. Does anyone make money hosting playoff games? Doubtful.

I don't think anyone really believes that is why SWAC and MEAC schools avoid the playoffs. Just look at Florida A&M last year. One of the best the SWAC had to offer last year, and they got beatdown by Southeastern in the first round.

Southeastern lost by 39 to James Madison the next weekend.

Did you ask the same for other CEO type coaches like Cristobal?

This poster has been beating his drum for weeks about these hbcu schools and how great they are and their games are so great etc. He’s really proud that the classic had great attendance and was touting attendance numbers for their “biggest” games during the season that would rank like 50th in terms of average attendance compared to yearly averages this year.

And when you question him on it, it’s automatically a race thing and how “y’all just don’t understand”

It’s a sight to watch.

That would be a huge mistake for him.

The Libtards that run University of Colorado are probably thinking an affirmative action hire of a Black guy from a HBC is going to save humanity, not to mention the gushing PR they would receive from the media and SJW's.
