Why would they compare themselves to the FBS?

Well, you could ask them. Pretty sure they’ve done it right here in this thread.

I mean. They were beating their chests about attendance. I just put it in perspective for them and it’s not that great in the overall world of college football. But sure congrats on like 40k average I guess lol

Stay scared of the shitty fcs playoffs.

really hope Sanders succeeds in Colorado & show prospective young coaches that HBCUs aren't dead end jobs.

Why does this have to be about hbcus? You can say the exact same thing about any fcs school. If you are a good coach you will get noticed and have the chance to prove yourself wherever you are at.

What is with this constant need for validation from hbcu supporters?

Already looked. Didn't see anything of the sort.

I mean, there's 4 FCS schools with higher average attendance than 37 FBS schools, and 2 of those are SWAC schools. Jackson State had a higher average attendance than all but like 50 FBS schools.

Not defending them, but there is some merit to what they are saying.

But come on, is it really necessary to shite on FCS? Sorry everyone can't be a big bad P5 school.

This is not really something anyone should be impressed by though. Like I said, they were beating their chests and I just put it in perspective.

No, you just don't want to be impressed by it.

Most of these schools aren't large, yet are pulling crowds larger than nearly all of the G5 and even some P5 schools.

That's impressive, whether you like it or not. Especially considering the fact that one is in shithole Jackson, MS; two are in Montana, and the 4th is the second fiddle school in Baton Rouge.

It will be interesting to see what happens to JSU's outrageous numbers if and when Deion leaves, though. There's no way they maintain that massive gap between them and #2.

Take Jackson State away, though, and the best is Southern at less than 20k. They would be 3rd behind both Montana schools, which is absolutely incredible to me.

How the frick do two schools from cold arse Montana lead the nation in attendance?!

Jackson State has the FCS record for the 3 highest avg attendance seasons (42k this season ). But JSU also had the record at 39k in 98' & about 35k several seasons before. Both seasons before Sanders. Not totally shocking if JSU is winning . Unfortunately they had been a poor program for over the past 15 years or so.

Those FCS schools like Montana State ( 17k enrollment) & the Dakotas are the states Flagship Universities. Most FCS schools like Mcneese for example ( 5k enrollment) in other parts of the country are mostly afterthoughts in their states.

Sure, now they are. But look at the early 2000s. McNeese was averaging 16k per game--higher than both ULL and ULM at the time.

McNeese's decline in attendance to what it is today (and being an afterthought) is a combination of LSU being successful and McNeese becoming stagnant.

But to your point, I would argue that G5s, for the most part, fit that bill as well. I mean, 14k for ULM and ULL isn't great.

If you aren't P5, you're irrelevant in the eyes of most college football fans.

I agree . I was just pointing out those schools are Flagships unlike , tiny Grambling , etc. & other smaller schools who are far down the totem pole.

Jackson State also averaged 33k Fans in 2019 before Sanders with a 4-8 record.
